Re: 1998 s70 t5 hood stuck... middle latch.
Not the OP here, but wanted to say thanks to BEJin for posting those pictures of the middle latch mechanism. Mine fell apart into two pieces on my hands, and with your pics, I should be able to rig it back up again. Also, I found the end of a 17mm open-ended wrench, gently cantilevered into position...

Re: V70GLT 2000 Starting issue - Cold or Hot
After a while, the car reverted to the same behavior, really limping along after the first cold start in the morning. After the first start, I'd get the CEL and TRACS lights on the dash. The car would run OK eventually, but I'd still have trouble starting it every time. So, I brought it to the garag...

Re: V70GLT 2000 Starting issue - Cold or Hot
Disconnecting the battery helped a lot. Now when the car starts, there is no chance of it going into limp mode. However, it still takes a random amount of waiting for the fuel pump to kick on with the key in position II. Once it does, the car fires up much stronger than it did before. In normal driv...

Re: V70GLT 2000 Starting issue - Cold or Hot
If it's starting at all, I would think your relay is good. Make sure you DON'T use Bosch Platinum plugs- our cars hate them and you'll have misfires (maybe not at first but within 1000 miles is likely). Good ole copper core cheapy Bosch's work best (unless you buy Volvo turbo plugs). Make sure to g...

Re: V70GLT 2000 Starting issue - Cold or Hot
I'm thinking you have an obstruction for it to take so long to get up to the injectors. This could be weather/temperature related as well. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter? You are the second person to mention this to me today. I think I'll go ahead and replace the filter, since ...

I wonder why I never noticed this in the summer? It's definitely working as it's supposed to. Thanks!

V70GLT 2000 Heater blows cold - Center vents only
2000 V70 GLT 160k miles A/C Works great Heat works great out of all vents EXCEPT the top center vents above the stereo. All I get out of those is cold (outside temp) air. They blow as much air as the other vents (fan is working), just cold instead of hot. In the summer, the A/C would blow cold out o...

Re: V70GLT 2000 Starting issue - Cold or Hot
So I replaced the switch (that was easy), but the problem is basically unchanged. I suppose it was possible that the jigging of the key back and forth was coincidentally timed with the fuel pump ticking on. The problem is now very clear: With the key in the II position, if I wait until the ETS light...

For completeness, I plan to replace this part: http://www.fcpgroton.com/product-exec/product_id/25140/nm/2000_Volvo_V70_Turbo_2WD_Ignition_Switch/category_id/228 and follow these instructions to do it: http://volvospeed.com/Repair/ignit_switch.php edit: These instructions call for a 15 and 25 torx w...

Re: V70GLT 2000 Starting issue - Cold or Hot
Oh, btw, you know that this means- you really need to replace the electrical portion of your ignition switch...not hard. We have a write-up in the repair database, I believe, thanks to Lee. :o Thanks, good to know. I'll look that up. Ignition switches wear out when you have the weight of many items...
