Re: 2004 XC90 T6 Broken Thermostat Nipple Upgrade

Were you trying to use a "replacement" OEM-like solution or were you going to completely upgrade using brass like I did? If going for the complete upgrade, then the threads are standard pipe threads. If you use the solution I posted (lots of pictures included), all parts are available at your local ...

Re: 2004 XC90 T6 Broken Thermostat Nipple Upgrade

Thanks for the idea Rick. Perhaps it'll help others who find themselves in a pickle after purchasing that inferior part. As for our family car, the wife is still driving it and the more permanent repair has held up extremely well. It's been almost 4 years since this fix was installed and I have not ...

Re: Volvo XC90 - Why you love yours!

I choose to attract attention. But of whether it’s clothing or cars. That means that the XC90 is surely right for me. Although I would have favored one in a flashy color, such as a strong turquoise blue or orange. Wow, that's a new one. I've seen some of the R-Designs in Red which is pretty hard to...

Re: P0305 Code (misfire code) Topic is solved

So glad that this thread is still helping the community. It's been 2 years since the solution to this post and the car is still going strong. Daughter is driving it daily to school. I've recently got new seat covers for the fronts and it's doing quite well. I got an annoying evap system leak code - ...

Re: Volvo XC90 - Why you love yours!

OK, here's another long long-term update. It is now Sept of 2017. Our XC90 now has 136K miles. Over all of 2016 and 2017 all I had to do was change the oil and replace some running lights. That's it. The last major item to break was the ignition switch, which was replaced in October of 2015. A tab o...

Re: 98 V70 intermittent big misfire

I had this issue for years before it was tracked it down to a bad manifold gasket. A small piece on the underside had blown out and there was no way to see it from above (still difficult to see from below for that matter). Like you, I was throwing parts at it. The good news is that much of my fuel a...

Deal of the Decade? 850R for $500

I came across this on the local CraigsList and it strikes me as an incredible deal.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/ ... 22192.html

Silver 850R for $500.
It needs work (stated in ad), but at that price...

Someone go save it!

Brake fluid level issues?

OK, this may be a controversial idea regarding the brake fluid, but I have done this with all my 4+ cars over a decade when I change pads and I have had no issue. Before I push my caliper pistons back to make room for new pads, I simply unscrew the cap on the brake fluid reservoir to break the airti...

Re: PCV System Repair on a Volvo 5-cylinder

I will say that when I replaced my PCV system, I was amazed at how clogged my PTC was. Tons of crap in there. However, I had to replace mine anyway as the insulated PVC pipe was all crumbly and no longer doing anything useful. Instead of putting another potentially crumbly PVC pipe, I replaced it wi...

Re: All New XC90 - any first hand feedback?

Yes, it is. On my last service on my S80 my dealer put me in a brand new XC90 for about 10 days and I really loved it. I found the engine moved the car just fine and it was only a T5. I am sure that the T6 would be more to my liking enine wise. In the back floor is a flap that lifts with binders to...
