Re: 2011 S40 key fob doesn't work, how to get inside and drive?
Thanks, MoVolvo for the suggestion. I wasn't skilled enough to try those :) However I found out you can purchase the mechanical key by going to the dealer, giving them the VIN and showing the car title (to prove you're the owner). The cost was $160 with a 1 week wait. It's a far cry from what ...

2011 S40 key fob doesn't work, how to get inside and drive?
OK so my daughter lost the main key fob for our 2011 S40. We have another key, but: 1/ it doesn't have the mechanical part, and 2/ the electronic key fob doesn't open the door (I already tried to change the battery).
Without the mechanical key, we cannot open the door to drive it anywhere (the part ...

Re: Which S40 do I have? Maintenance for a turbo car?
OK I've since found out that if a car is R-Design, it will have an R-Design badge in the front grille.
My question then is only what are the checks/maintenance items for a turbo engine?

Which S40 do I have? Maintenance for a turbo car?
I just bought a 2011 S40. Before buying, I entered the VIN into kbb and it came up as a T5 R-Design. At that time I thought it's the result so I took it as that.
But now I realize it's only a selector (dropdown box), which means T5 R-Design may just be the default first value in the list, and I'm ...

Re: What's name of the part that retain the sun shade?
Worth a check, but looking at the 'what it fits' on Volvo of Toronto website says 93-97 850.
Should have asked what color are you looking for as all I could find referenced was beige.
Neil.
Sorry for the late reply. I sort of gave up on this and the visor is still sagging :(
The color of mine ...

What's name of the part that retain the sun shade?
I'm trying to look for a part and I don't know what's the right name to use. You know the two sun visors inside the car (one for the driver, one for the front passenger) right? They can flip backward or forward, and can also be turned to the side. The plastic clip that holds the visor in place has 2 ...

Re: When it's time to move on (and what did you buy?)
Sentimental topic :)
I've thought along the same line (as wheelsup the OP). I bought mine used in late 2004, that was when I first registered for this website. Went through many maintenance/repairs although none as big as transmission. It's still running well now, but paint is starting to peel ...

Re: Problems (engine? transmission?) after PCV job
So now it's running great? Awesome! Some thoughts as I read through your posts...
- It definitely sounded like a pretty major air leak somewhere, so I'm glad you found some hoses amiss.
- Search for "Lawnmower Syndrome". It's a real thing, and it sounds like with the hard starting and rough ...
