I had some vacuum hose problem a while back. All that is gone now, and I've don't have any code for socket A1 (trans) and A2 (engine). Yet the check engine light still remains. Do I have to clear all the codes from all sockets for the light to go away? I have ABS codes but I had them for years before and it didn't lead to CEL.

I'm aware of the procedure: that to clear CEL, I have to use socket A2 and press 6-7 seconds, wait for red light then press another 6-7 seconds. I used this procedure to clear the code on A1 successfully. For socket A2, it had a code before but after I fixed the issue, the code clears off on is own. Both sockets now give me 1-1-1. And yet the light stays on.

Is there a hard-reset option somehow? Mine is a 1994 and I interact using the "control panel" under the hood on the passenger side.

Have you tried disconnecting the negative cable from the battery, pressing the brake, and waiting 30 minutes? Should discharge the entire system and clear everything from the memory.
