Does not bother me ether but getting ready to sell the car and I like to make everything right before I put a car up for sale

I have a 1996 Volvo 850 T5 turbo that does not lock into park at all. I don't have to push the brake pedal down or even turn the car on it will shift in or out of all gears at all times. Car is now running great with the distributor turned approximately 45 degrees from where it ran yesterday. Physical timing (timing belt, timing marks, TDC) is all still in place so this is all electronics.

Please post any ideas you might have on what the problem could be.

Today we had to move the distributor another 10 degrees to get it timed. Then we took it out for a drive and it died. We unbolted the distributor to see if a timing change would get it running again. Are the 1978 240s as good as the later ones as far as reliability and used parts availability?

Go the turbo changed and the smoke is gone. Yay

But unfortunately the oil return line is leaking bad. Anyone have tips for fixing repairing the leak?

My son has a 1996 850 T5 that blows a ton of smoke for a very short time when you lift after hard acceleration. The car just had a new head gasket and a leak tested head 600 miles ago so I am hoping it is not valve guides. Is there any change that the turbo needs news seals and is causing the smoke?...
