Thanks, Bill! This looks like a slightly revised version of the file I have and it helps with the whole belt tensioner issue.
Thanks again.

Re: 1990 Volvo 740 8V motor - crankshaft pulley bolt & Fuel line
Scratch that last one, I can see the marks.
However, I'm trying to loosen the timing belt or something so I can get the head off the block. The camshaft pulley nut won't budge, so I can't pull the belt there. Is there any way to get the head off without removing the camshaft pulley?

Re: 1990 Volvo 740 8V motor - crankshaft pulley bolt & Fuel line
Thanks, Bill.
I now need to know how to get the lower half of the timing belt cover off without removing the crankshaft pulley so I can see the lower timing marks. My timing marks are lined up on the camshaft, but I want to make sure the lower marks are okay. I loosened the two bolts I could find ...

1990 Volvo 740 8V motor - crankshaft pulley bolt & Fuel line
Good Evening,
Does anyone know the size of the bolt head on the crankshaft pulley? I'm supposed to turn the pulley to line up the timing belt, etc. when I remove the belt to take the head off (I'm doing the head gasket), but I don't know what size the bolt head is. I know it's larger than 19mm (the ...

Bill,
I read through the documents - Documents 3 & 4 are the same documents. Should that be? They are both INTAKE MANIFOLD R & I and EXHAUST MANIFOLD R & I.
Documents 3 & 4 also refer to another document: FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE
The first document "CYLINDER HEAD R & I" refers to: TIMING BELT R & I ...

Re: 740 Wagon 1990 Head Gasket???? Not sure about this symptom
Bill,
On one of the other forums, someone mentioned the head bolts stretching on an 850 motor and that they would need to be replaced with new ones or that you would need to use washers to get the torque right when tightening. Any truth to that that you've experienced?
Also, does anyone have the ...

Revision to statement A above:
The seal on the top of the water pump going to the block is new. What I was hoping was there there was *another* seal that's above or near that seal and that keep the oil from going into the cooling system.

740 Wagon 1990 Head Gasket???? Not sure about this symptom
I changed the water pump on this motor 1800 miles ago. This week I started seeing oil in the coolant overflow tank. The oil seems fine (not cloudy) and the car is not blowing smoke.
Looking at the motor, I see what looks like oil seeping out where I think the head meets the block right above where ...
