I own a S90 and replaced the PNP switch because that's what the mechanic told me was wrong. I was also told that some car become stuck in a certain gear and won't move. But, here's what I suggest. When the car's in reverse does the reverse lights come on? Can the car start in Neutal? If the answer ...

Re: replacing headlights on 2002 S40

anybody know how to replace the headlight on a 2002 s40? do I need to replace the whole headlight assembly? or is it just a bulb that I need to replace and if so how do I get it out? Does this have single or twin lights? My 1999 V40 was the older, single headlamp style. Swapping the bulb was pretty...

Re: 740 Turbo does only 16 mpg. Normal?

I didn't know how to measure MPG. So what I did was top her up, full tank, & set the trip meter to zero. I then took the miles reading when the fuel needle was midway. Halfway through the tank, I read 128 miles. So if the tank holds 15.8 US gal. (from the manual), it consumed 7.9 gallons to do ...

I had a V40 2.0T for a few years - loved the car until it started letting me down at only 140k. Anyway, I didn't have a lot of experience in the snow (we don't get much round here) but it seemed no better or worse than other FWD cars. I couldn't get up my driveway (until I put straw down) or out of ...

V90 fuel consumption

I have seen a lot of posts about fuel consumption for the V90. My main problem is that, being in the UK, I'm not sure what sort of gallons they are quoting! My car is a 1997 V90 3.0SE automatic with the 204bhp engine and 92,000 miles on the clock. I'm getting 24 miles per UK gallon (around 20 miles ...

V90 auto pnp switch

My recently acquired 1997 V90 3.0SE (92k on clock) has started having problems with the auto transmission. The arrow on the panel flashes and the EWS switches on the gear lever flash. Also, the car feels like it is trying to pull away in too high a gear. All this points to the PNP switch problem tha...

I'll try the ratchet tip mentioned on the link first thing tomorrow. That was me - forgot to log in - tut! Must be old age... The ratchet tip certainly seems to have made the car drive normally! Great! The light was still flashing for a while and has now stopped but I think the bulb must have gone ...

Re: Why Buy A Volvo?

I am drawn to the safety features offered in the Volvo. However, I have been told by former Volvo owners to walk the other way; citing constant reliability concerns, monthly shop visits, blown tires and overall frustration and regret for buying a Volvo. I'm looking at alternatives...I appreciate an...

Mine's a 99 2.0T and I'm pretty sure that I have to turn on the ignition and then hold down the odometer button until light flashes and then release it.

There are IIRC subtle differences from year to year

Re: should i purchase a new s 40

i am currently looking into a new car and i am seriously considering the new volvo s 40. any regrets out there? what is the general feeling? is the premium package (leather seats, etc.) worth it? I have had a V40 2.0T for about 4 years and I love it, even though it's causing problems (at 140,000 mi...
