Inner Tie Rod Replacement

I've never done Tie Rods before, but it looks pretty straight forward. The only question I have is removing the rear clamp on the inner boot. Is the clamp simply pushed off the boot? How then is then is it replaced?

Also, does anyone have the torque spec on the inner nut?

2005 XC90 2.5L AWD Moderate Oil Leak

I have a moderate oil leak, driver side. I am approaching 200k on the odometer. I've not ventured underneath but its due for an oil change. I have been putting it off due to the winter weather here in Ohio. I've owned it for going on 3 years and has had a small leak since day one. The PO re-did the ...

Quick fix for squealing parking brake

I've got a squeal coming from my passenger side parking brake (192,xxx mi). It appears the shoes have de-laminated. Can I remove the shoes temporarily to at least address the noise? In other words, if I remove the shoes and do not replace them, what are the ramifications?

Ignition not moving past 1 resolution?

Jumped in my 2005 XC 90 with 190,xxx mi. Key would not turn after position one. It would unlock the steering wheel, but that's it. Did some reading and this is a common issue amoung some volvos. I initially thought (and hoped) it was caused by the steering lock paw that broke off and prevented movem...

Re: 2008 Volvo V70 3.2 FWD Rear Hub replacement

Thanks- it looked straight forward till I saw the rusty torx heads. I have the luxury of a back-up car (always a good thing when all your DD's are over 100k) that I can put into service while I get this repair completed. My plan is to get it multiple applications of heat and PB Blaster over several ...

Re: 2008 Volvo V70 3.2 FWD Rear Hub replacement

Yikes- just read a post on a V50??? with similar torx mounting. Looks like I may be cutting this off and the dust cover too??? Has anyone successfully removed the Torx from the rear?

2008 Volvo V70 3.2 FWD Rear Hub replacement

Its time to do the rear hubs on our 2008 V70 3.2 FWD, 150,xxx +/- on the clock. I've done volvo front hubs before (not on this particular vehicle), and the rears seem to just bolt in using 4 Torx bolts. Is there at tutorial available? I have searched and not found one, though I have not looked for o...

Volvo trailer light set-up from a pull-off- 2005 XC90?

I already have a hitch/receiver installed by a previous owner (uhaul brand). No lights though. I am in the process of acquiring a boat and would like to haul it legally to the lake and back. There is a 2005 XC90 at the pull apart I have already raided once but while there I noticed it had a factory ...

Re: Starting replacement of control arms and ball joints on 2005 XC90 2.5t this weekend

Just out of curiosity, should the ball joint nut be tightened to a specifc torque spec? I've read anywhere from 37 to over a hundred ft pounds. I did not use a torque wrench. I just used by 3/4 ratchet and tightened as hard as I was able by hand.
