I would guess that you have a bad starter or least the soleniod is bad. Check all connections.
Make sure the replacement battery is the right size and has the right cranking amps. I have had problems with the battery size being incorrect.

I am having a problem very simular with a 99 s80. It seems to be about two to three months apart but I notice the blower running an hour after the car is shut off and the battery will be dead in a day or so. If this is suppose to be a dehummidifing function I wonder if the drain is cloged up running...
