Re: 2000 XC70 - AWD?
Sad to say, but sure as the sun will rise, your bevel gear is toast. I recently experienced the same jet engine sound that is absent when cold, but slowly appears once the car warms up. I removed the bevel gear and rear drive shaft and now drive FWD. Sadly, these parts are unique to the 2000 model y...

Re: Is the year 2000, 70's series really that different?
Yes, the 2000 v70xc is very different. Even though the style was the same from 98-00, the 2000 for some crazy reason has year-specific parts, especially driveline parts. More excellent Volvo engineering :x I picked up a VADIS manual on ebay for $25 and it is reasonable, but you won't find a Haynes o...

Re: XC 70, 2000, Bevel Drive and Rear Viscus Cuplink
I had the same problem with my 2000 v70 xc - because the 2000 model year is unique, you will not find a gently used transfer case (bevel gear). Unfortunately, it's a bit of chicken and egg - the transfer case, rear driveshaft and viscous coupling are all dependent on each other and the failure of on...

ABS problem?
When taking a slow, braking right turn, my ABS engages. It also seems to happen when turning while backing up. I've had my ABS module serviced by Victor and there are no lights or codes. Could this be a sensor problem? Otherwise, brakes are OK.

Re: pcv replacement problem
Here's a pic that shows the location of the tube. You cannot see the tube as it runs underneath the circled area of the manifold to the underside of the thermostat housing. Any thoughts?

Re: pcv replacement problem
Yes - it is, but this one too doesn't address the hose from the front left underside of the intake manifold running to the thermostat housing. It looks like I need to remove the housing and drain some coolant. Surely someone out there has done this?

Re: pcv replacement problem
Thanks - I had used this link - and thought it was excellent, but my manifold is different - it has another tube connected to the thermostat housing and there is no obvious way to remove it without removing the housing - if anyone has successfully done this on a 2000 v70 XC, I'd really like a tip or...

pcv replacement problem
Hello - today I tried to replace my oil trap and was foiled because I couldn't remove the intake manifold. I thought that between VADIS and the helpful tips here, that it would be possible. However, after loosening all required bolts and hoses, I found that there was still a hose that ran from the u...

Re: v70 awd se 2000 fuel line connection at intake manifold
Can anyone help me with this
The well described post for the 850 has a threaded nut on the fuel line - my v70 xc looks like a compression fitting.
