Re: Do it yourself ABS module repair.
Great writeup. When my wife's V70AWD began with Check Engine lights, cruise dying, intermittent pedal feel, I looked to Matthews for the solution. It took me step by step how to analyze this issue. A few hours of searching on eBay, purchasing the proper tool and module, and 10min of labor, my proble...

Re: Failed ETM Bad News Story - Replacement Good News Story
Update - at 122k miles we're still going strong. Acceleration, idling, performance all still flawless after almost a year and a half after installation. This along with the superb winter driving ability make this one of my favorite Volvos to own. No more alarms, indications, wild idling, and the cru...

Saturday night, a long day at work, time to escape, and with the roads now dry time to put the pedal to the metal and..... studder, studder, studder, Check ENGINE, studder, studder I was in horror - how could this happen and my reliable T5 let me down. I plugged in my code reader and it read the dre...

Re: Do it yourself ABS module repair.
This afternoon I attempted to replace the ABS module on my wife's 1999 V70 AWD. I used the E5 Socket I won on ebay, along with the remanufactured part I bought on ebay. Utilizing posts from this site, and the video from YouTube, I felt confident enough to attempt this repair. Amazingly, it is as eas...

Re: 1998 V70 T5 or 1995 960 Wagon???
The RWD on the 960 was a consideration, but I did grow up on RWD American autos (Impalas, Delta 88s, Malibus, Grand Ams, Roadmasters etc). The difference then was large V8s, studded snows, and in some cases Bias Ply tires. With a set of Blizzaks, I'm sure it would make a huge difference, along with ...

1998 V70 T5 or 1995 960 Wagon???
I currently own a 1999 V70 AWD which my wife drives and I really enjoy driving when I get a chance (its tough loosening her grip on this vehicle since she sold her Chevy Tahoe for this vehicle). I have a couple of potential buyers for my Suburban, and I am considering two vehicles - the ones titled ...

Failed ETM Bad News Story - Replacement Good News Story
In July my wife and I purchased our first Volvo - a 1999 V70 AWD (115,000). Loved the performance, driveability, and economy. It was in spectacular condition, and we had absolutely no hesitation buying the vehicle due to its condition and operation. After a month of ownership, I noticed the cruise s...

It has been a few weeks since you last posted. Has the replacement ETM been installed and how are the results?? I am having similar problems and am debating between going to Volvo, or going to XeModex. Thanks for your posts and updates.

Re: what kind of mileage can a Volvo do? What's yours?
Our 1999 V70 AWD has 115,000 on it. Recent trip through Finger Lakes tallied approx 25MPG. Not bad for this vehicle - and a heck of a lot better than the vehicle it replaced - 2001 Chevy Tahoe - 18MPG highway, 13MPG City - 48k miles.
