Shopping for 1998 Volvo models
I just donated a beloved '94 850 with approx 215k on it to charity and I am once again looking to buy another used, all be it pain in the rear, Volvo. This time I am looking into the 1998 models and I was wondering if someone with the knowledge and expertise would suggest me some tips on what to loo...

Re: 850 sedan 1994 Car will not start
Still nothing from all that. I think I'm gonna just get rid of it. Anyone interested in this car, I'm taking offers. It will have to be towed away.

Re: 850 sedan 1994 Car will not start
Ok, after taking a brief hiatus from all of this, I have decided to continue and persevere with my efforts to get this swedish heap going. The good thing is that the more I work on it, the better I understand and respect it for what it is designed to do. I ave removed the idle air control valve ( IA...

Re: 850 sedan 1994 Car will not start
And nothing is the result.....I have backtracked and re-read all of the notes and tips but still not start. What could be wrong? I definetly have fuel pressure and i can hear the new pump working. I can see that there is fuel going into the rail and injectors by the tell tale sign of a drop or two o...

Re: 850 sedan 1994 Car will not start
Well, I have the Walbro pump in. In place of the old original Bosch and it was a bit of a challenge getting it into the receptacle. I have to finish it tomorrow morning since it got dark rather quickly today. Any other thoughts and tips on what to watch for as I try to get this thing working again. ...

Re: 850 sedan 1994 Car will not start
As I was about to order a hella fuel pump direct replacement, the online help suggested I also get the fuel sending unit. Is this so? I did not anticipate this added expense. Of course it would make sense since already am buying a new pump and filter, wouldn't the sending unit need to be replaced as...

Re: 850 sedan 1994 Car will not start
I have replaced the fuel relay (103). I opened the fuse box, there was a simple "rig job" that consisted of a wire and two flat pin connectors at pin 15 and 87. I have also checked for pressure and there was none via the schraeder valve at the tip of the fuel rail. I will go with an OEM pu...

Re: 850 sedan 1994 Car will not start
Ok, am I correct in assuming that if it is indeed the fuel pump, should i replace it with a new one and not a used OEM fuel pump of the same kind and manufacturer? I am leaning towards purchasing one since I have checked the schrader valve and there is no pressure at all. But man, is that fuel pump ...
