Mine wasn't a column shift so I didn't run into any trans tunnel issues. You may have some issue due tot the fact your car was not originally equipt with manual. Sounds pretty typical of ECT. Make sure you get an OEM one as the aftermarket one are hit or miss. Probably should replace you thermostat as well .

If you install a bigger anyi sway bar then you should really install the HD or better endlinks. I've had the Meyle HD ones on two different cars and they are a good upgrade. Both cars have them on almost 50 k miles with no signs of play.

if you do replace it, it's not super hard if you have a cherry picker. mainly just the four subframe bolts and then unbolt the steering rack, control arms, swaybar endlinks and mounts and drops right down with a couple jacks. i was able to take it off by myself but you'll need two people to remount.

Have you recently drained the coolant and refilled? Every time I have changed a radiator in one of these it has done that on he first test drive. the heater core has to fill up and I believe that sound is the water pump pushing water thru the system. Just been my experience.

I'm pretty sure an NA won't throw the cat code due to it not having an o2 sensor after the the cat. mine was completely blown out and i never got any codes.
