Re: This is FCP. How are we doing?
Ed, I recently had to RMA an aftermarket CAT when it kept tripping an efficiency code. I actually took it to a shop and had them verifty I had a bad CAT and not another issue, as I was expecting problems when I went to return it. Instead what I got was an outstanding customer support. Your specialis...

Re: 2002 S80T6 CEL Long Term Fuel Trim Cat Efficiency
Well, I set up a little test rig with compressed air. Plugged the air filter end of the intake using duct tape, removed the larger of the two vacuum hoses coming from the evap and pushed compressed air through the intake starting at 5 psi and slowly increased the pressure until I found the leak. I f...

Re: 2002 S80 T6 CODES P0235 & P0236
Boost pressure sensor, located on the air intake between the intercooler and the throttle body. May want to check for air leaks, or a hose that has come loose. In my case the plastic intake tube was not seated all the way on the throttle body inlet. My understanding is the boost pressure sensor is a...

2002 S80T6 CEL Long Term Fuel Trim Cat Efficiency
I've been chasing these codes for a couple of months now trying to find the problem. Long term fuel trim goes to the lower limit (doesn't stay there). Cat Efficiency throws a code as well. My assumption has been they have the same cause. A little history, the engine blew a head gasket and overheated...

2002 S80 Piston Ring Replacement
Looking to do a complete engine rebuild, and it looks like the only source I can find for piston rings is the dealer, or FCP at the same price as the dealer. Anyone have another supplier for quality aftermarket rings at a good price.

Re: Thermostat Housing Nipple
My cost may be different, Tom had agreed to a price and stuck by his word but he ended up having about 4 hours into the part when I think he originally was looking at 2. Don't be suprised, if he or another machine shop tells you $100. Overall, I spent about $60 (part plus hose clamps, bolts) on the ...

Re: Thermostat Housing Nipple
Apparently I wasn't really clear. The connector on the hose was brittle as well and was causing the leak because a clip broke on it. The part Tom fabbed up was an exact match. Overall, I've been pretty pleased with most of the engineering on the car. This section stinks. Bright, it was great advice,...

Aftermarket Radio
I'm considering replacing my wifes stock radio in an 04 XC70 with an alpine aftermarket unit. I've read that there maybe a firmware update required for the car and that it may result in an ABS code? I've also seen a procedure involving placing the radio in transport mode on on 06 S60. I'm trying to ...

Re: Thermostat Housing Nipple
I ended up finding a local machine shop I found on the internet http://www.automotivemachine.com. After a few emails back and forth deciding on material, Tom Nichols fabricated a piece of stainless that worked perfect and was worthy of display. Great guy to deal with and as honest as they come. Afte...
