Re: 2002 V70 Driver's Seat Return Memory
Yep, it's the key-fob that's the key. It remembers which key was used to lock it (remotely), and returns to the settings for that key when that key is used to unlock it (remotely). My wife and I were inadvertently swapping key-fobs and had a bit of a time figuring out why it would "randomly&quo...

I used a dremel tool to cut a slot in the tamper-proof bolt; it came out easily with a stubby flathead screwdriver....

Re: Alarm Chirp Way Too Loud on Activation
It sure sounds like you have the dying-battery-in-the-siren-module problem. It just happened to my '04 S60. Volvo designed a sealed module with a battery destined to wear out, and carefully positioned the battery directly over the circuit card (not under it; that wouldn't work) so that when it leake...

Re: Seafoam...now idle is horribly irregular
Those codes could point to the MAP sensor; maybe the seafoam didn't agree with it, or maybe you could check the wiring/connector to the MAP.
Hope this helps.

Re: Job going on now need help: drivers side drive shaft
Just did both axles on my S60; used a large screwdriver to wedge between transmission and driver-side axle, tried one side, then the other, no go. Then tried two medium-sized screwdrivers, one on either side of the shaft, popped right out with not too much effort.....

Valvoline .pdf spec sheet does claim "Volvo passenger car applications", and the FAQ section does say Volvo..... http://www.valvoline.com/pdf/Maxlife_ATF.pdf But i just went by the Toyota dealer and picked up a case (12 qtrs) of Toyota T-IV for my next flush. I try to flush a little over 1...

Re: S60 Power steering fluid leaking/noise
I read somewhere that within the power steering reservoir, the return line comes into the reservoir and goes thru a "pipe" that directs the returning fluid to the bottom of the reservoir. This pipe can get loose/fall off; then the fluid is sprayed into the top of the reservoir, creating fo...

Re: No Power after oil change.
Yep, my last oil change at the dealer really was my last oil change at the dealer. FYI i used a plastic strap wrench with a rubber strap; and did my best to help it with both hands to spread the force. It also was not at the ideal angle, but was able to come off. Now, I hand tighten it and don't nee...

Re: No Power after oil change.
The first time I changed the oil filter, I had to use a strap wrench to get the "cannister" loose. Dealer loved to really crank it on there. But, it's the rubber o-ring that makes the seal, tightening/overtightening the cannister doesn't make for a better seal. It is a mental challenge (fo...

Re: detached vacuum hose
Hope that resolves the temp issue; apparently replacing the thermostat is a bigger deal than one would expect. I'm due to replace mine (110K miles on original) but since Volvo has made the thermostat into a "thermostat assembly" you can't replace just the $10 thermostat, you have to get th...
