I'd recommend doing the entire clutch if you're going to replace the throwout bearing. If the bearing is bad, there's a good chance that the clutch can be misaligned and not wearing evenly.

edit: plus you're going to be in there anyway, why not

Sounds like probably the throwout bearing. When they lose their grease, they can start chirping/whining/swishing when you release the clutch

Don't know how hard it is on Volvos, but in my old Mustang you could just slip the inspection cover off, take a syringe with grease and inject it at the ...

Update - installed the new pump, no check engine light, no codes pending, passed emissions with flying colors :)

Clicky here. Don't know the guy personally but I bought his SAS pump and am quite pleased. I didn't get the color, but the interior is neutral (tan) leather and from what he says he hasn't sold much more than the pump. If you need something, might be a good thought to give him a shout.

Quick update - I picked up a used (but very fresh) SAS pump from a Clister yesterday, gonna install it tonight. Hopefully that'll clear my CEL as my emissions are due tomorrow. BTW, if you're in the Denver/Springs area, this guy has some good used parts (I'll post the ad in the buy/sell section ...

I have no experience w Volvos, I'll leave that to the other experts here. The Sable though, here are my thoughts:

Body build quality - Sables are much worse off than Tauruses in this end. Things come loose quickly, though it is random - not ALL Sables have this issue, but a good majority ...
