1800ES - M41 Manual Transmission and Overdrive Oil Type
Hello, My mechanic drained my M41 transmission/Overdrive on a 73 1800 ES and replaced it with Automatic Trans Fluid (ATFATF1). He said it was filled with the wrong type and said the ATF is standard now The manual recommends using SAE 30 or Multi-grade SAE 20 W-40. I am hesitant to drive the car unti...

1800ES Rear Hatchback Drains and Rust Area
The rear hatchback window frame on the 1880ES is prone to trapped water and can eventually rust in that area. Does anyone have suggestions if there are kits or ways to fix the area below the window? I cant find anything on what seems like a common issue due to design.

Re: 1995 960 Fuel Sender, Need to spend $700.?
Thanks a lot for your input so far. I am still amazed that our mechanics (former Volvo dealer mechanics) said I have to replace both the sender and pump even though the pump is fine. It isn't their fault if Volvo forced this change, but want to be sure we cant get a sender without the pump. I will c...

1995 960 Fuel Sender, Need to spend $700.?
Hi I recently bought a 95 960 sedan and the fuel gauge worked fine for a day. The car has low mileage and probably sat a lot for years. It worked intermittently for a couple of days, but now shows empty all the time. My mechanic said I have to buy a new fuel pump along with the sender since they don...

Re: Odometer Not Working '96 850
Well it took many months, but I finally handed the gears I bought (per your recommendations) to a new mechanic and they fixed a 2 year old problem. I was going to do myself, but didn't have any way to read the computer in order to update the visible odometer. Since we had to remove the same dash, I ...

Re: 960 Power Steering Vibration at Low Speeds
Thanks Darrell and yes the level has been fine in both cars, but I am willing to try to replace. I didnt mention that it doesn't make this noise all the time and the last two days it has been ok, but I am sure it will be back.

960 Power Steering Vibration at Low Speeds
Hello, I have had a couple of 960s with the same problem and a couple of shops said there isn't much I can do. When I turn the steering wheel at low speeds (5 mph) there is a vibration type of noise in the front. It comes and goes but different shops said the same thing. Not a problem, but funny how...
