Re: PCV R&R - Losing the battle to the dreaded hidden Intake bolt

This is interesting as to why some people (such as oragex) have no problem, while others struggle? Just came up with this idea...sacrifice a 10-mm box wrench (cut the wrench near the "box" part), then go to muffler shop and weld the 1/4-inch extension to it like a crow foot but it is "box" for bette...

Re: PCV R&R - Losing the battle to the dreaded hidden Intake bolt

You make it too complex.

Just cut a 10-mm socket (dremel or angle grinder) short and it will fit.
See the link I posted previously.

Re: Coolant low prompt on DIM Topic is solved

I hate to state the obvious but did you open the hood and check coolant level?

Every time a coolant reservoir is replaced, it takes some time for the level to settle down (air bubble).

Re: PCV R&R - Losing the battle to the dreaded hidden Intake bolt

A little trick... - By the time: - The UPPER bolts are removed. - The 2 LOWER bolts are loosened a few turns (do NOT remove these as already mentioned). - Pull the I.M. toward you a bit, then rotate the I.M. CCW a bit. This will loosen the last 10-mm bolt a bit, just enough so you won't strip the bo...

Re: 98 S70-Advice for Gasket & Filler Pipe replacement

I am the person that posted that DIY in 2013. Time flies. I admire the fact that you want to tackle this job. It is not difficult, being slow and methodical is the key. As erik said above, do NOT use only a 2x4, which was exactly what I did in that photo (in the link you posted). Use a piece of plyw...

Re: PCV R&R - Losing the battle to the dreaded hidden Intake bolt

From the car mfg standpoint, the pressure of cranking new model is intense. Very often they take parts from previous generations (everyone from Volvo, Mercedes, BMW, Honda etc. does it) and install in the next gen. In the Volvo case, the I.M. is virtually unchanged from previous gen, but they change...

Re: PCV R&R - Losing the battle to the dreaded hidden Intake bolt

The Volvo engineers should be proud that due their design, this particular 10-mm bolt generated 5 pages of discussion LOL!

Well, in their defense, the I.M. is almost the same as Volvo 850, S70, but they modified the thermostat housing, partially blocking this infamous bolt!

Re: S60 2.5T misfire

.......I replaced the plugs which were very worn and the coils and car runs like a top. Will have to likely replace the PCV system in the near future... - You probably did need to replace the coils. But anyway, now you have 5 spare coils. Keep the old ones as spare or sell on ebay LOL. - The oil on...

Interesting photo...
So, for this area (thermostat area), the setup for 2006 V70 NA 2.4 is different from 2.5T?
