Re: Mounting start button on old S70?

I have a key mounted up inside the dash area as you need that to by-pass the ignition to allow remote start to work.

Re: Washed Engine Bay - Ran then Died

Unfortunately Mike is right. Biggest issue is usually distributor on -98 cars. I would remove the distributor cap and wires and let them dry our near some heat. Also check the cam sensor wires and it's connector for damp and blow out and use contact cleaner to make sure moisture is dispersed. Ensure...

Re: Rear swaybar 850 turbo.

I still find it strange that Volvos came with the rear anti-sway bar as an option. I understand there are the location points available on the rear axle for one. They were know to rust and break with age. I wonder if V/S70 parts would fit? I know a regular AWD V/S70 front (like my R) anti-sway bar w...

Re: P80 cordless Bosch lug nut tool 125 or 500 ft lb version?

I still use the 2 impact drivers mentioned earlier. However, I had the case when some numb-nuts at Kia dealer used an impact driver on the boss's Kia Sportage. 350 ft/lb corded driver would not budge them. Out came the 3/4" x 48" long break-bar! Nuts should have only been 80 ft/lb MAX on that car!! ...

Re: 1st time ac problems

Misha, if you have not already done so, remove and clean the 2 cabin temperature sensors. There is one hidden about each grab handle about the front driver and passenger seats above the doors. You have to remove the grab handle and some of the door trim to get to them but fairly simple. Carefully cl...

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)

Cylinder head oil leaks from the rear which are hidden and drain into the starter motor frying it. Also front pulleys and tensioner coming loose and damaging the engine. Both jobs highlighted by a senior mechanic at Volvo dealer I know. When he told me about this, he had just found a way to repair t...

Re: Fuel tank - what type of plastic?

I had a problem with a V70 plastic tank. Looked like the owner had backed it over something bending the heatshield and breaking the mount on one side. If I recall I glued it back with a plastic epoxy as well as a little work of melting the plastic with my little propane plastic welder (like a solder...

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)

Seems like a good price. I nearly bought one once but was scared off by 2 major potential issues with the V8 engines. Both mean engine out to repair and $3000 bills for each.

Re: LR rotor is scraping on rotation ('94 855T)

I had a set of Zimmerman rear rotors turned when new as they were warped out the box. Lasted until after I sold the car 4 years later.

Finding someone with the gear to turn them now that aftermarket ones are so cheap. FCP have a lifetime warranty too.
