2003 XC90 AWD chain drive oil change/blown trans seal?
Thanks again guys, Just went to change the oil in my chain drive, removed the magnetic plug just rear of the right front drive axle and a ton of fluid started spilling out. I think it was transmission fluid! I put it back in fast! As I understood it this plug is a fill to port like that of a differe...

Re: Oil cooler leaking antifreeze into oil?
Haven't been here in a while. Everyone told me head gasket. I had 2 coolers fail. Long story short I ended up bypassing it just for peace of mind. No more coolant in the oil! The other place I thought coolant might get into the engine is the tube for the crank case ventilation. coolant and vacuum li...

Re: 2005 XC90 2.5L FWD, any trans issues?
I think the T6 was the one with all the Trans issues.
Mine went out at 75,000 mi. Really poor design. You would think for a car Volvo was going to build for 11 years they could have designed a trans to fit, instead of using a GM trans.

2003 XC90 Drastic Reduction In MPG
Thanks in advance for any input. Car use to get 18 MPG per the computer. Dropped to 14.5 recently so I changed the O2 sensors. This had no effect on the MPG. Next I cleaned the mass air sensor with CRC MAS cleaner. That screwed up the sensor, so I replaced it. Now the car is getting 10 MPG! Where to...

Re: Oil cooler leaking antifreeze into oil?
The problem has returned with the cold weather. Coolant in the oil once again. I cant believe the oil cooler could go bad in less than 10000 mi. I love my Volvo, I love my Volvo, I love my Volvo, I love my Volvo. Anyone have a match?

Re: 2011 - Front wheel/steering pop sound on breaks/turns
I had a similar problem after hitting a big pot hole. The car pulled hard left during braking. One mech. missed it another found lower cotrol arm bushings broken.

Re: XC90 Mystery Coolant Issue
Have the oil tested for coolant (NAPA has a kit you send away to a lab). Mine had the same problem and it was the oil pan mounted oil cooler. I replaced it and the coolant stopped dissapearing. Make sure you change your oil to get fresh oil in there if you find antifreeze in there.

Re: Oil cooler leaking antifreeze into oil?
The oil cooler is not integral with the radiator but it has coolant running through it. It's not a air to oil cooler, it's a antifreeze to oil cooler. Coolant is pipped to a manifold at the back of the engine that supplys the oil cooler and the turbos.

Re: Oil cooler leaking antifreeze into oil?
It's a T6 AWD, the cooler mounts on the back of the oil pan and has coolant lines running to it.
