Re: Help taking control arm/axle off

When you replace control arm, get oe. I went the cheap route and the bushings are toast after about 15-20x miles. The Haynes is very little help with this car. You will not have fun with the EVAP. Might as well change rear cam seals and all the hoses when you do that because you'll have half the eng...

'98 V70 AWD: highpitch whine in rt front

I have a very highpitched whine coming out of my right front passanger side. It is wheelspeed dependant, getting louder with speed. The whine is louder after/during a rain, and what used to go away after driving for 5 minutes, takes 20 minutes to go away. I don't think it's my bearing. I changed tha...

Re: Rough idling and radio code

Can't you just give the vin # to get the radio code? That's all I need for my '98 - and just go to the local volvo dealer who gives it to me foc. (It's now written inside the glove box.)

Re: 98 v70 xc drive shaft removal

How did you determine it was a bad drive shaft bearing.
It looks like these guys were torn over that or a wheel bearing issue:

Re: V70 AWD '98 no-start

In my case, (you can see a video in this thread) I needed to change out the key-cylinder.

Re: v70 awd '98 sway bar link bolt

Larry, just a couple hours too late - I already ordered a new link bar from Groton before I saw your post. It's my only car, so I have been driving it with the loose link (still hanging on there). It's good to hear that it's been done before, and my wife especially, likes my new driving habit of goi...

v70 awd '98 sway bar link bolt

I was clunking the other day on the right side. So, I tightened up my sway bar link nuts. Did the trick. As I had the time, I also tightened up on the left side. Those were on the loose side too, so it's good I checked. However, while tightening the left bottom sway bar link nut, I reached a point w...

I think this was the same car the Polish communist party used for limousines.

St. Louis, Auto Evaluators (pick another)

They diagnosed my problem right: emergency brake cable. I told them not to fix it because I felt the price was way too high. (I eventually did it myself, a very amateur mechanic, and it wasn't too hard) I pick the car up, pay my $70 evaluation fee, and 2 miles down the road hear a load clunk in the ...
