Re: 1997 850R - Stumped - Boost Issue

ARD WG you got on there?

I tried that WG and no matter what I did, it was to thight. Bosst spiked, TCV bled it back down, then it spiked again and so on, roller coaster boost. My fix was going back to OEM WG.
It sounds like you are boost spiking. I`d go back to stock WG and start off real loose ...

Re: Leaky Oil Cap

Sythetic oil is a must. It seems more or less all white blocks have the problem with oil vapors coming out the oil lid. Mine does to, even with a new pcv system and a new oil cap seal. I guess it is sort of a good thing, a relief of excess pressure.
I much rather have to clean off the top of engine ...

Re: 96 850 turbo no spark, most of the time

I`d check the coil to distributor cord. Had a similar problem and I found the brass part that attaches to the coil plug had corroded off the wire itself, inside the wire boot. Look for green corrosion inside both ends of coil wire boots.

Re: Will «Glove test» on the PCV warn me before it is too late?

Naahhh :-) not entirely sure about that, my "norwegian" 850R triggers the service light every so often. I have not been able to pin it down to how many miles driven so I think maybe it triggers by number of start cycles.

Re: Will «Glove test» on the PCV warn me before it is too late?

Given the history of oil change frequency on this car and if fully synthetic being used, I`d doubt the PCV ever clogging up.
What might need looking into would be the hoses for the PCV, they dont last forever..

Re: 1996 855 T5 - Musings on Wastegate Adjustment

Sounds like you found the sweet spot. Spring in the OEM WG will wear over time and a little adjustment like this can be helpful.
Seeing as you don`t have gauges and what not, just keep track of how many turns you adjust.

Re: 95 850T Intermittent start issue

Looks like a bad ground to me..
Either that or corrosion on the signal wire to starter.

Check and clean ground point beside battery and on the block. I would also fiddle around with the wires on the starter, clean with sandpaper

Re: Cigar smoke VS vac leaks

No, not really. The hose just cuts clean off. I`ve seen other having the same issue in exactly the same spot. Must have something to do with manufacture. This hose is not subject to mechanical stress other than heat cycling.

Ohh and BTW, the hose was only 2 years old, from when I last changed the ...

Cigar smoke VS vac leaks

Noticed the engine running slightly rough, more soot on tailpipe and lowering MPG.
No fault codes stored.

Lit me a good quality cigar

Re: volvo v50 t5 turbo pipes

Have you rebuilt the turbo, more info please?

If so I suspect that the oil your seeing comes from the turbo..
