Re: FCP timing belt kit OEM quality?

The FCP Groton site is more expensive, the FCP Euro is much better to navigate and do research eventhough the toll-free numbers are the same. It could be the Groton site is for "local" only, I would go to FCP Euro. Same stuff will be sent to you.

Re: with ac on feels like i am dragging a safe

This car is not supposed to be like that! It used to be like that over the last few years but after I brought it in for service at the dealer to get ready for the 140K service, it runs fine now and it doesn't have the short cycles any more. It runs almost like 12 years ago when I bought it.

Re: Got a Volvo Campaign Notice in the mail (850)

Yes, you should. I go to the dealer everytime I have issues (I don't go there for oil changes) and a few months ago the car failed the smog test and I had no ideas why (the car passed the emission part but failed the FUNCTIONAL part, the guy at the smog station told me there was fuel odor present). ...

Re: 1995 850 Volvo RECALL

Hi there,
Thanks for the info! Is it only for the Turbo model or all the 850 of that year 1995? What would the dealer do for us if we bring the car in? Thanks!

Re: Anyone have their mood affected by season?

I found driving on empty roads helps, I love the sound of music in my Volvo, too. Driving fast helps but it can be dangerous sometime if your mind is not clear. I feel bad when it's could (no blue sky at all. There are tricks I found that helped: close your windown and blinds then turn WARM lights o...

Re: Silverstar bulbs

This web site also sells the Sylvania Xtravision for $8-$15 a pair. The price is much lower than the Silverstar. They look similar in the photos. What's the catch?
Look at them here:

Re: Well, crap. Blinking arrow of doom.

I wouldn't go for a Bimmer, not understated enough I think. A Benz E320 or even C-series will do just fine....I saw a few of them in 2002-2004's at very affordable prices around here

Re: 850 Interior Lights Flickering

It's the dimmer switch, I had the same problem and had to pay about $200 for it (for that little thing?!!!). I couldn't believe the price, those in Honda or Toyota would cost $45 bucks. I had to replace it after 15 years. You could buy a cheap used one but who knows how long it will last.

Brake Shim it is! Thanks for the pic, gswede!
BTW, ABBA didn't die and still going strong with Mamma Mia then the movie with same name. Their music will live on > much longer than the Volvo in the '70's (and those car were durable!). Long live ABBA!

Re: Why do my brakes vibrate more AFTER I change new pads?

JBlackburn: "Since you say it doesn't feel like warped rotors, I think what you're feeling may be because your car needs shims on the rear brakes - the pads will vibrate as you come to a stop." What are the shims on the rear brakes? Also when I wrote my brakes vibrate more because I assume...
