There wasn't mention of sludge in the drained oil, if that helps any.

Also, didn't see it at first, but the IPD kit includes the intake manifold gasket as well - it just wasn't listed in the part number list.

So I've dug around a bit after being told that I apparently have a 'massive' (per the shop that I have my oil changed at) oil leak. I looked around and also found something that I have been having issues with over the past 25k or so - rough idle. Both of these being caused by a clogged up PCV ...

If you can move the top nut cover on your strut you need to replace the strut bearings and spring seats.

Probably splitting the air volume between the dash/pillar vents and the upper registers by the windshield.

My major repairs so far on an '01 V70T5a
113k (New to me) - Oil pump and all related seals replaced. Troubleshoot SRS error to no avail.
130k - Replace front suspension components, struts, spring seats, top strut bearings
145k - Replaced front brake pads and rotors.
147k - Almost failed smog, will ...

When I bought my '01 V70T5 (with 103k at the time) it had a bad oil pump. It would work and provide adequate pressure at 1000RPM and over, but at idle ~650RPM it provided next to no pressure.

'01 V70 T5a, 148,xxx miles and I drive it ~25 miles one way to and from work every day, plus weekend jaunts. To my knowledge, factory exhaust header to tailpipe. It seems to run fine, consumes maybe a half quart of oil between 7.5k mile changes and gets about 21-23 MPG on those 25 mile commutes.
