XC60 rear creaking noise

Hi there - 2010 XC60 T6 with 289 000km (179k miles). I have recently noticed what I can best describe as a creaking noise that comes from behind the driver seat. I can only hear it when under load accelerating or climbing a hill. It gets worse if in higher gears (4-5) and when towing my trailer. The...

‘04 XC70 Part out in Atlantic Canada

Hi everyone, I’m parting out my beloved Sven. He had 276,000km when the PVC banjo bolt broke off and ended up in cylinder 4; destroying the valves/ valve seats. I’m located in Moncton, NB, Canada and would rather sell locally if anyone in Atlantic Canada region needs something. I had invested in a n...

Re: Engine self-destruct

Well damn, when I did my PCV last summer, mine was the old style and all I did was clean it out w/ some carb cleaner. I already had an alternator pulley and decoupler tool in my FCP cart. I just added the new banjo bolt. I should be able to get to it okay w/ the alternator out. Pulley job just got ...

Re: Engine self-destruct

My scope won't look up towards the valve and the tiny mirror that came with the camera can't be found.. Your comment made me think that the hardened bearing would've won against the softer valve, and what I'm seeing are pieces of valve... I'll try to vacuum out the pieces and start it for a second. ...

Re: Engine self-destruct

Hi - I'm not sure which version of the bolt I received when I ordered the parts. I had ordered all of the PCV parts from an online outfit at the time.

Engine self-destruct

Hi, my 2004 XC70 with 172k miles developed a sudden misfire and intermittent knocking 15 seconds before getting home. Code reader indicated a misfire on cylinder 4. I pulled the spark plug and noticed that the electrode was bent against the tip and some of the carbon deposit had been scrapped off th...

Re: Rear suspension bushings, thoughts?

Careful with what you replace out back, keep it to a minimum.. I replaced the upper and lower control arm bushings with polys because the originals had play in them and the mechanic wouldn't pass inspection - the car is now dangerous to drive, the rear is side-hoping like crazy and getting a really ...

Re: Rear suspension height question...

It’s a XC70... 4 wheel alignment was done 3 times while trying to get toe just right and get the bushings torqued with weight on its wheels. The alignment on a newly calibrated machine. You mentioned a special tool for spring seats.. can you elaborate?

Re: Rear suspension height question...

Hi, sorry for bringing this topic back up but I can’t find any help anywhere else. I also replaced the bushings in the rear upper and lower control arms with polys. The rear end is now standing about 2” taller than before. Bolts were torques with weight of vehicle on the ground and now I have a dang...
