Re: Rear suspension height question...

It’s a XC70... 4 wheel alignment was done 3 times while trying to get toe just right and get the bushings torqued with weight on its wheels. The alignment on a newly calibrated machine. You mentioned a special tool for spring seats.. can you elaborate?

Re: Rear suspension height question...

Hi, sorry for bringing this topic back up but I can’t find any help anywhere else. I also replaced the bushings in the rear upper and lower control arms with polys. The rear end is now standing about 2” taller than before. Bolts were torques with weight of vehicle on the ground and now I have a dang...

Rear Lifted after Upper and Lower Control Arm Bushings

Hi There, I've recently replaced the rear Upper and Lower control arm bushings with polyurethane ones on my 2004 XC70. The upper arm bushings were shot so I took the opportunity to upgrade the bottom arms bushing while at it. An online search on changing these bushings had zero results; seems like n...

Re: STC light flashes when I turn...?

I also had the exact same problem. Diagnosis: Broken ABS ring on front passenger side - the ticking is the ring hitting the ABS sensor due to some binding during turns. Found an ABS ring on eBay for 10$. Remove axle, punch out the broken ring, bake the new ring in oven to expand it and slide it on a...

Re: Brake issues, tried all the fixes

Hi JKRayl, I had the same feeling with my '04 XC70 - it felt like the brakes were just adequate and the pedal had a long travel that didn't provide much reassurance. I swapped the rear brakes for XC90 calipers and rotors and that completely transformed the vehicle into what it should be. They're not...

Re: Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF , Mobil ATF 3309 or JWS3309 ?

Another option is Toyota's Type IV ATF (JWS3309) from dealership. I have found it to be a very economical option for exact OEM replacement (half the price of Volvo ATF). My transmission couldn't be happier :)

Re: Rear brakes from XC90 - Possible?

I have my summer 18s on right now but I believe that 16s will fit over the upgraded brakes. Will let you know when the snow comes :-)

Re: Rear brakes from XC90 - Possible?

To anyone wondering if the XC90 rear brakes swap is worth it, do it!! The brake performance and brake feel is night and day with the XC90's 308mm rear brakes and larger calipers. Before, it felt as if all the weight was transferred to the front and the steering would feel very heavy. Also, the brake...

Rear brakes from XC90 - Possible?

Hi! I was wondering whether it’s possible to install the rear brakes of an XC90 onto my 2004 XC70 (caliper, bracket, rotor, pads, line). Couldn’t find anything in the search function. I have done the 305mm upgrade for the front but I’m still disappointed with the braking performance in general and e...

Re: Brake line problem

Yes, you're right...Canada and lots of salt on the roads. Since I haven't had luck with flare wrenches and nuts lately, what I could do is cut the line right after the Y and insert an appropriately sized socket to break the nut free. It looks like the Y is above a metal part next to E-brake cable an...

Brake line problem

Hello, I searched this forum and the internet and couldn't find an answer... I need to replace the rear brake hose on my 1998 V70 AWD but I have a bad case of seized nut on the hard line side. Even with vise-grips, heat and penetrating oil, the nut is getting eaten away by the vise-grips and not mov...
