Re: Infamous ignition tumbler problem, now "Start Prevented Try Again"
Solution: Immobilizer antenna ring was bad, possibly contaminated when I cleaned the ignition tumbler. New OEM part (8621509) was $72.99 shipped from FCPEuro. Once installed, all three keys started the car with the 1st turn of the key. Advice to those with ignition tumbler problems, remove the Immob...

Re: Infamous ignition tumbler problem, now "Start Prevented Try Again"
Have you used the valet key successfully before to start the car? I was wondering if you hadn't, are you sure it is chipped. If not it may be a security lock out possibly until locked and unlocked again? Neil. Yes. I actually went out later in the morning with the original key. Did the same door lo...

Re: Infamous ignition tumbler problem, now "Start Prevented Try Again"
A new genuine antenna ring is only ~ $60.... Yes, I priced 4 of them yesterday, from $64.79 to $81.65 without shipping. Probably will be my next move based on the following: Completed this morning: 1) Relubed the key slot/tumbler with WD40 Dry Lube with PTFE. Key easily moved to III and returns to ...

Re: Infamous ignition tumbler problem, now "Start Prevented Try Again"
Have you tried just cleaning the connector to the antenna ring? A build up of oxidation on the terminals can cause it to give the error you are getting, especially if you are getting it on more than one key. That error can also be the transponder chips in the key fobs failing, but unusual for more ...

Re: Infamous ignition tumbler problem, now "Start Prevented Try Again"
Brief update: Disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting hours later made no difference. I still get the Start Prevented Try Again message. What is new and I didn't notice if it occurred earlier, but when I go to key position II, I get the error message. I would swear that earlier I only got th...

Infamous ignition tumbler problem, now "Start Prevented Try Again"
I've been through the infamous ignition switch tumbler problem. Read many posts. A while back did the lower plate removal, and tumbler cleaning. Worked great for a while with smooth key action and easy starts, but always came back to eventually sticking or getting hard to turn to position III. I've ...

Re: Steering wheel adjustment hand lever replacement
Thank you. This will help but it's for the generation of V70 prior to my 2001. The column covering removal is the same, but kick panel, and dash and even hand lever are different. I'll use this for reference but was hoping someone with a 2001-2007 V70 or S60 did the job. My lever broke (split) where...

Steering wheel adjustment hand lever replacement
My plastic steering wheel adjustment hand lever broke. It's the lever to the left of your steering wheel that allows you to raise or lower the steering wheel. Volvo PN is 9 491 830. Has anyone replaced this and what did you disassemble to get it back on? Broken, it comes out easily but it looks like...

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaning
I run high quality premium gas and add Lucas upper cylinder lubricate with injector cleaner about every 3rd tank. I've never had an injector problem in my 23 years of owning the T5.
