Re: Front end damage: is knuckle likely to be bent?

Lots of good information here. I'll have a chance to get it up on jack stands early next week and inspect the frame near the LCA attachments to see if there is any buckling. Caster didn't change from previous alignment so I thought maybe LCAs would be OK, but may as well replace those. Kills me beca...

Front end damage: is knuckle likely to be bent?

06 V70. Teenaged son had some kind of incident with either a pothole or a curb at speed that bent one side of the front suspension (camber went from correct -0.7 degrees to incorrect +1.6 degrees - top of wheel is now farther out). There is now a visible difference between the left and right side cl...

Re: 06 v70: how do I access parking brake adjuster? Topic is solved

I am astonished at how easy it was once I knew where the boot separates. Never would have guessed. I just pulled up on the perimeter of the leather boot at each of the five slot locations. Here are some additional pictures I took - same setup as abscate's. View from left: handbrake-boot-left.jpg Vie...

The boot comes out if the hard plastic and reveals the adjusters there.
So should I just pry along the edge of the boot?

06 v70: how do I access parking brake adjuster? Topic is solved

I'm only trying to get to the parking brake adjuster screw/nut. The various videos I can find do not seem to have the same style of console panels around the parking brake lever. They all show a short panel around the base of the lever that can be pried off. Mine has a long panel (photo below) which...

Re: 08 xc90 3.2: lower radiator hose: how do I disconnect?

Thanks for your suggestions. It was difficult to get leverage so I ended up taking out the 3-way hose (twist-lock connector at the back and hose clamp at the lower front of the engine) and was able to eventually get the radiator hose off. What a pain in the neck!

Re: While I am in there...

Could it be the brake booster vacuum pump? Mine started leaking around 120k miles and the oil dripped down around the serpentine belt area forward and rear, and eventually down to the bottom of the transmission and onto the mud shield. There are rebuild kits available for the vacuum pump. I did mine...

08 xc90 3.2: lower radiator hose: how do I disconnect?

On my 08 3.2, the lower radiator hose attaches to a 3-way fitting with a metal u-clip/o-ring (same as the thermostat connection to the upper radiator hose). I unlocked the u-clip but the fitting is still stuck together. I tried prying where where the two pieces come together but that just broke off ...

Re: 08 xc90 3.2: how do I remove exhaust manifold shield?

It's been over a month since I installed new ignition coils in all positions (except #4, which had been replaced two years ago). Despite numerous around-town and 30-minute freeway drives, P0420 has not reappeared, so I am declaring this problem fixed as a result of either new coils and/or new plugs....

Re: 08 xc90 3.2: how do I remove exhaust manifold shield?

Update (although no definitive fix yet): 1. With a flex 10mm ratcheting box wrench (TEKTON WRN57110) I was able to get the three upper exhaust heat shield bolts (along the back of the engine) off. The two lower/rear bolts came off with an 8mm box wrench, reached while I was underneath. None of these...
