91 240 Auto Trans Fluid Mystery....

Ok, so I just finished working on this AW70 tranny in my wife's 240 wagon. I did the trans filter and pan gasket, as well as the tail shaft housing gasket, seal, and tail shaft bushing. Prior to doing the above, I drained just over 3 quarts of fluid from the transmission pan. Now, here's the mystery...

Re: 91 240 wagon crossmember bolt holes

Excellent solution! I will remember that for next time. However, I ended up filing just a bit from the inside of the bolt holes on the crossmember, which allowed me to get the bolt through at the angle I needed. Given what you said, after lowering the car off the stands I'll definitely go back and s...

91 240 wagon crossmember bolt holes

Hello, So, after having removed the crossmember to replace the transmission mount, I am putting everything back together and everything lines up fine....for the most part. The crossmember seems to have shrunk in length since I removed it as the bolt holes on the crossmember are now just a tad out of...

Re: Your thoughts on a used V50 wagon?

Glad yours runs well. My concern was prompted by how many reviews mention challenging and persistent electrical problems in that year. Weird electrical issues are not something that this shade tree mechanic fancies dealing with. :D

Re: Your thoughts on a used V50 wagon?

OK. Thanks for the information. Is it accurate to say that these problems you mention were worked out in the later models?

Your thoughts on a used V50 wagon?

Hello, I still drive 90's era rear-wheel drive Volvos, so this is new territory for me. I am considering picking up a used V50 wagon and I have a couple of questions: 1. Early V50's, such as the 2005, appear to be plagued by electrical problems. Is this something that has since been resolved via sof...

88 244 Sedan Repeated Fuel Pump Relay Failure

Hello, I searched the forum but could not find this information. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that if one of the two fuel pumps fails, then it produces an overload situation for the fuel pump relay, which will continue to fail after replacement under the excessive load. Or am I imagining thi...
