Re: V8 with funny start up sound

Sad part about the power steering pump, it's not going to stop seeping and you'll need to pull the belt (tensioner) again to replace. Can see photo for where it starts, drips out the front of the engine under the pump and makes a mess but eventually runs to the rear of the engine through the valley,...

Standard torque values from VIDA (2014D), use these values unless otherwise specified.
Thread Torque (Nm)
M5 5
M6 10
M7 17
M8 24
M10 50
M12 80
M14 130

You posted for a 2017 but I cannot imagine that a torque rod bolt will have any "special" value.

Good luck with your repair.

This is 2008 so either 3.2 or V8 (Denso ECM) if the vehicle is North American. PEM gets moved inside the vehicle by 2007. As noted above, it's 12v power to the pump from the PEM by way of CEM with control via ECM (B:21 for the 3.2, B:20 for the V8). CEM (B:16) gets the power for the fuel pump from t...

New tensioner if OE comes with a bracket preinstalled (apologies if this is already known) so it's "locked". Tensioner is close to tight already with the bracket on, if you're also close to getting the belt on you can try a longer than normal 6-point and tighten enough (it'll be slight) to get the b...

I used the key a couple times since the “fix” and while it's holding up fine, I can already see some delamination of the silicone right at the end of the key case. So trying to pin the down the case flex at the end is key (pun intended) to making this repair last in my opinion. I looked at one of my...

Re: Large Coolant Leak under the Vehicle - No wet carpet

Rear is AC, refrigerant only. Coolant path does not extend past the heater core in the console, at least that I can see. Not sure what engine this car has, can see a diagram of the coolant paths with the 3.2 I6 and the V8 (heater core is #4 in the diagram) Cooling System XC90_B6324S.JPG Cooling Syst...

Black label, back side of passenger door pillar. Bottom of label in the center, you'll see the paint code with maybe another number (shade).

That's what you need if you're trying to match.

I'll look forward to someone trying to explain this. FWD car with a bevel gear to transfer power to the back, engagement of rear differential controlled by a wet clutch as a function of front wheel spin.

Follow-up on spring seats, they do go bad, and to a greater degree on the XC90 since it's high and heavy. Relatively easy way to check is to shine a light between under the rubber washer and the center of the seat, look for obvious large cracks and tears. Can also take off the top nylon nut cover an...

Here are a few links, mostly related to leaking but if you can see significant in/out or rotation or note wobble when the hub is turned, the internals are probably compromised. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=77613#p416042 https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.p...

Re: 2005 XC90 2.9 ltr awd tr6 high ECM-6140 EXHAUST CAM CONTROL -SLOW

Hub maybe, it's oil pressure controlled by the solenoid controlling the hub position, ECM maps the angle it wants the camshafts to be and reads the sensor on the back as a "loop". Loop is not being completed fast enough and the code is being thrown. If there's enough oil pressure and the solenoid is...

Once you have the threaded ring off, it'll be more intuitive. O-ring will slip off and on from the disconnected top, least that's what I recall when I had to go back a second time to properly clean out the channels and do a reseal after a sender replacement in 2014.

Angle gears associated with the TF-80SC have the drain fill either on the back or on the side. My old angle gear in the V8 had it on the rear (fluid swap was a complete PITA, got scars to prove it). When I replaced with OE exchange in 2016 (new PN with some added parts), I noted that the drain/fill ...

No P-10108 for the XC90 that I can easily see. The closest thing in VIDA I find is the atmospheric pressure sensor (ECM-112/113), for MY2006 it's in the ECM I believe. The MAP sensor DTC would be ECM-125/126 which correlate to an OBD P-0238 to P-0240 as far as I can tell. For sure won't hurt to swap...
