Then the angle gear is probably solid and you should be able to do new fluid and a filter, see if the pressure issue resolves while you look into the noise. I'll "guess" the comment about differential is the same I mentioned (angle gear). Pressure code comes from engaging the DEM, which normally mea...

Re: Wiper Arm Cover/Cap Removal Technique

From personal experience, if for any reason you break one of the side tabs on the cover and it does not lock back down, a dab of bathroom silicone inside the cover where the nut recesses should keep it on until the next time you need to remove. I replaced mine on the '05 after a few years of keeping...

I'm going to try and guess at what you're describing, please correct me when to see this: -You have a metallic sound from the rear end, seems to come when you accelerate the vehicle, more when turning left and right and when going up a hill or other load on vehicle. -If you continue to accelerate, y...

Re: XC90 cruise control causes poor performance

Early XC90 had the oil vapor hose that goes from the top of the camshaft to the oil trap (between intake manifold runners) made of nylon, got heat cycled and disintegrated after a few years, starting at the accordion bends. Check that hose, if made of rubber someone has swapped it out already. When ...

Re: Old transmission fluid change... Risks/Benefits... 2006 XC90

I vote 100% change the fluid, you'll be happy that you did. Transmission fluids can be a touchy subject and if you use the wrong spec you'll not be very happy. The AW5x transmission uses straight up JWS3309, folks can say what they wish about alternatives but for many years the most common fluids th...

For coil pack, Bosch PN 0221604008 is the OEM version of the Volvo PN 30713416 at about 60% of the price.

Re: XC90 cruise control causes poor performance

If you could write something on how long you've owned the vehicle, current mileage and previous service (PCV, fuel filter, any other engine work), it'll help put context behind your question I think. That someone "fixed" the earlier problem with a boost solenoid (aka TCV) suggests it probably was co...

Re: Extremely loud squeal at startup

2005 V8- how many miles on the vehicle and when was the aux belt and the idlers replaced (with or without a new tensioner)?

Power steering pump and fluid is original? Reservoir level is correct? PS fluid ever changed/added and if yes, what fluid was used?

Re: AC on full blast when car starts up

So the question might be whether this is a normal thing or not? Could absolutely be, in Auto the cabin fan speed is temperature dependent. If vehicle is warm inside and climate is set for Auto, fan is going to blow at high speed when first run in an effort to move some air and get the temp down as q...
