There is a spring type clip that holds it in place make sure it has not come off or stripped the threads on the switch assembly. I don't know S70's so I do not know if a cover panel may need to be removed for easier access. The cruise switch is pretty universal though.

I tested the car today and it appears to be running much, much better above idle. It still stutters here and there but overall it seems much more stable.
