Oh, I never did figure out why the sway bar/link rod item was bent. I wonder if it had to do with towing a heavy trailer (which this car did during my care) or a problematic tow (which happened once with the previous owner). It ended up being a 400 dollar repair.

So I did end up finding an independent garage. Actually, my Dad's mechanic. My Dad trusts him with his cars and my uncles do, too. So it turned out to be better than heading back to the dealer.
