ground the wire, the gauge should go all the way to the red , if not I would take the odometer out and take it appart and test the temp gauge 12 vdc , connect the+ and - to see if it moves. I bought a upgrade kit to upgrade my 240 from R12 to R-134a. I bled off the system ,and I tried to recharge it.
