Re: 98 V70 GLT (silly) Dome light weirdness

That sounds like an easy fix, and the local U-Pull has tons of 70-series Volvos. Thanks!

98 V70 GLT (silly) Dome light weirdness

So here's the deal: the kick-panel lights work correctly when the doors are opened and the remote locks work fine, so I know the door sensor is working correctly. That said, the rocker switch for the dome lights seems to have three options (from left to right): Dome lights on, dome lights off, dome ...

Re: 1999 S70T5 Rough/"Hard" start

In the case of my GLT, the leaky injector went with a frequent CEL for a miss on the cylinder with the bad injector and a really strong smell of unburnt gas when starting the car. What finally pointed the way was when I had the intake manifold off and found gasoline covering the valves on that ...

Re: 1996 850 Turbo, Rough idle, new PCV didn't fix it...

To lap in new valves, the head must be pulled.

I think that is good advice to unplug the #1 injector lead, you can drive it a long time like that.
Agreed on this. You'll have a 4-banger, which is what most people drive anyhow.

When a teenager I was doing an oil change on a 120 for work, noticed ...

Re: 98 V70 GLT These boost numbers are hilarious

Sorry, Torque is the name of an Android app that talks to my cheap Bluetooth-enabled ODB-II reader.

You can see the yellow bracket on the boost gauge - that's the low-water mark. The thick white stripe corresponds to current value. The red bracket, at 44psi, is the high-water mark. The thick white ...

98 V70 GLT These boost numbers are hilarious

Something tells me Torque is giving incorrect numbers. In this case, "Something" is a lack of engine parts flying in a cloud around the motor when I put my foot down on the gas pedal. Or maybe 44psi counts as "Low Pressure" in Sweden.

Look at the high-water mark on the boost gauge (bottom left ...

Re: 96 850T What the heck is THIS leftover part? (head gask

Clamp that holds the PCV hard pipe below the intake manifold. You thread it in under the right-most intake manifold bolt - next to cylinder 5, and it holds the PCV pipe in place.

Source: bolted the same part down between the intake manifold and the cylinder head a couple weeks ago, which caused ...

Re: 1996 850 Turbo, Rough idle, new PCV didn't fix it...

Not speaking for rspi here, but when I was having trouble, a compression test was one of the first things I did. That was to inform me as to whether the engine was worth taking the trouble of further diagnosis - if one cylinder was truly "dead" then I'd have to make a hard decision about whether to ...

Re: 1996 850 Turbo, Rough idle, new PCV didn't fix it...

Speaking as someone who just replaced a failed injector, ericv11's suggestion is really worthwhile. Swap will take about fifteen minutes if you don't drop a screw into the injector port on the manifold like I did... and if it is the injector they're easy to come by.

Re: 98 V70 GLT Rough Start, Cyl 5 intermittent miss

Thanks abscate. For the record, I ended up having to replace the injector and that has 100% solved the rough start, the fuel odor, and the P0305.

failed lifter is the only thing i can think of, its caused by the holes in the lifter getting sludged up and the lifter doesnt get lube or the oil ...
