Re: Up To Speed '06 V70 NA

In Europe (UK) it's rather the opposite, majority stick transmissions. Unfortunately, the slave cylinders are fragile and Volvo put it inside the transmission so the engine needs be removed to replace the slave - and usually the clutch and flywheel get contaminated from brake fluid so it's a nice bi...

Re: Control arm - Is there a safe way to force it?

I’m a little late to the game here but the way I’ve tackled it in the past was to hang a looped chain over the outer end of the CA and then slide a 2x4 through the lower part of the chain loop (below the CA). With the inboard end of the 2x4 resting under the subframe I had about three feet of it ha...

Re: Up To Speed '06 V70 NA

At $3000 100K miles is a great deal. I like the non turbo, certainly doesn't pull like the 2.5t, but it's fun to drive inside the city where the speed is limited, because you have to push the engine for longer to get up to speed. Just wish I'd had the manual transmission for some extra fun - or at l...

Re: '06 V70 upper shock mounts Topic is solved

I don't think it's needed for the rear ones. Rarely heard of them going bad (the front ones however do). A few tips if you need www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7gsgr9YWy4

Re: Anyone else have issues with excess oil consumption? (S60 2013)

Not the right section of the forum - the section here is for 2001-2009, but yes, it was a widespread issue with the 2012-up engines, caused by a faulty breather (PCV) unit, I believe the unit is easy to replace however, if left without being replaced it may damage the pistons (and rings) so the pist...

Re: XC70 2004 stolen, 240 totaled.. what now?

I like the looks of the XC60 and surely is an improvement, but I would be afraid about the potential issues. There have been widespread problems with windshield leaking over electronics, cabin blower going bad costing a fortune (located in the middle of the dash), surely other annoyances Perhaps not...

Re: Difference between Sachs and OEM struts?

Would like to update this topic. This is going to concern the P2 cars, not sure if it's the same for P1 cars - but in theory it should be the same thing I recently installed Genuine Volvo struts. These are still made by Sachs, only now they are made in Turkey (the original struts when the car was ne...

Re: Where is my coolant drain plug on XC90 ? V8

Need to undo this plug carefully - some owners tighten these too much and they are difficult to undo next time and may also break. I talk a little about this small plastic plug at 6:00 here www.youtube.com/watch?v=69ymGTqHxRw Basically, when screwing it back in place, you can just tighten it by hand...

Re: Climate control/fan not turning off

I would go in two steps: replace the blower regulator first (or the whole blower if you can get a used one in nice condition, like on Ebay from a Florida car). Then see how it goes and eventually replace the small cabin thermistor. Some people recommend to have the key in POS II whenever the battery...

Re: Control arm - Is there a safe way to force it?

Well done. If the boots crack a little at some place, can always clean the grease and use some Super Glue - did this to my ball joint boot
