Re: seat swap

Before swapping things around check out part numbers - specifically the airbag part numbers. When I did a seat swap years ago on an S60 - (it was S60 leathertte to leather) - all I did was move all the modules over. Everything plugged in without issue. Ultimately I gave the car to my sister and my ...

Not without lifting that wheel - make sure you immobilize the car properly if using ramps but better yet, use the spare jack to lift the wheel, then place a $20 jack stand (get one from harbour freight, don't buy cheap chinese ones from amazon). Re: Timing belt tensioner jumping S60 base 2.4

As above, the needle is correct - it's doesn't have to be 'perfect' in the center However, the fact the needle moves that much, means the tension in the belt oscillated significantly for some reason. Re: Timing belt idler jumping S60 base 2.4

This is not the idler, it's the tensioner. That is not good at all. Was the engine warm of cold ? I would not drive the car anymore. It may be a faulty tensioner, but may also be another item - such as the water pump, that may be just about to seize, and that will damage the engine. If the belt and ...

Perhaps more important is to keep the battery well charged. Good idea as someone said to take it for a ride at least once a month, 10 min should be fine also revving the engine a bit. I would not recommend letting the car at idle, especially not in the upcoming cold winter days. At the very least, c...

European markets have a different 'marketing' when it comes to engine size and power, so Volvo sold them the exact same engine but with an ECU mod that cut the hp down to 140hp on the base model - they could still get the 168hp model for extra money. Remove the spark plugs and try to turn her over by hand. If you're able to do this, the pistons did not contact and destroy the valves. With the plugs out there is no compression, so generally speaking all engines are easier to turn by hand (preferred method to align the timing marks). With the spa...

That's interesting - wish you had posted this earlier. I don't think this is the transmission slipping. On transmission slipping the rpm doesn't react that fast. What is interesting is yours happens exactly at 3500 rpm - that's the engaging point of the VVT. Does it always do it at 3500rpm ?

It's interesting. If you can have someone turning the steering just like in the beginning of the video, just a little bit left-right, perhaps with the engine off so you can communicate, put your hand maybe on the springs - careful not to get it trapped by the wheel, or on some other parts like the t...

That is right about the 4 speed GM in the S80, very few complains. Perhaps the weight on the XC90 is what was going over the transmission specs. I haven't read that article, but perhaps they were referring at the 4 speed GM automatic transmission that was put on the twin turbo T6 engine. You don't need to lock the doors for a drain test, just serial plug the multimeter to the battery, leave it on then wait 10 minutes.
