The other test is on the road. If the AWD is working you get very little if any torque steer. If the AWD is disabled then it torque steer just like a FWD.

I would snag a accelerator pedal assembly from a junk yard if you can find one. That seems to be VIDAs biggest complaint.

I don't think the pedal sensor has to be married in software to the car but I could be wrong, I have swapped ETMs between cars and left the original pedal sensor there.

Re: AC Delete 99 S70 N/A - (Seized Compressor) Topic is solved

The path of least resistance in my mind is to grab a replacement compressor from a pick-n-pull. Hooking the lines back up will help to keep the crap out of them. If it was just the clutch bearing that seized up and the compressor didn't grenade internally then it is really easy to pull a good vacuum...

As far as the interior goes it is common for them to have come from the factory with what would be considered "mix and match" parts. It is also a common thing for them to get mixed and matched later on when stuff wears out and the pick-n-pull has the right part but a different color. The colors all ...

The sprockets aren't really different in size but the way they hook up to the camshaft is different. The CVVT sprocket more or less floats over a several degree band. You can turn the sprocket several degrees and the camshaft itself won't move. When doing the belt on a CVVT you have to go through th...

Many people use Walbro replacements. A real Walbro pump is pretty bulletproof but they tend to be a bit noisier than the OEM Bosch. Be careful if you do buy a Walbro though, there are a ton of counterfeits that come in authentic looking boxes.

Re: Can you replace cam seals on a 2000 V70XC without a cam locker?

So long as the tool doesn't snap when you torque down the center bolt in the CVVT hub any of them are fine, they all do the same thing. If you were just changing the rear seal you wouldn't need it but if you remove the hub then it is a must. I tried to do it without one by eyeballing the back of the...

Actually I think you can just not plug the intake CVVT solenoid in and forget about it with no need to remove the solenoid. That is easy since there is nothing on your harness to plug it into anyway. The CVVT hubs are significantly larger than the standard cam so you really can't replace the CVVT hu...

Did you properly set the CVVT preload? Are the bolts that hold the pulley (number 11) up against either limit in the slots on the pulley? The bolts are typically not centered but they shouldn't be at either limit in the slots. I think improper preload would cause that error and disable the CVVT. The...

The sensor snaps into the bottom of the tank and typically you can't really move the tank out of the way without unplugging it. Make sure it is still snapped back in and that the connector is hooked up.

Re: Passenger Power Seat not working Topic is solved

Most of my problems have been with the switch and I can get it to work again with contact cleaner.

Re: '94 850 Timbing Belt Job- Current Timing appears to be off Topic is solved

When I did the belt change on a couple of mine (both of the '96s) they were a tooth off when I started. My guess is that about 30% of them on the road are driving around that way. They run better when the timing is correct but they don't run horrible off a tooth like you would think they would. If y...

Re: 1994 850T

If this is an automatic (likely) try rowing the shifter back and forth, quickly, a dozen times or so. Particularly after the car has been parked for a while the PNP switch can get wonky and it will interrupt the start circuit. Exercising the shifter can loosen up the grease on the contacts. You can ...

Re: Volvo 855T engine swap using a 2.4T V70R Engine

I cannot make a 100% guarantee that the M56 variants will bolt up since I have never done the procedure myself but they should go together just fine. Obviously the flex plate needs to be removed and replaced with a manual transmission flywheel. People swap RN engines into older cars all the time and...

Re: Volvo 855T engine swap using a 2.4T V70R Engine

You can't change the cams and the cam cover to remove the CVVT. The seal is a different size on the CVVT cam. What you can do is just leave it as is and the CVVT will lock itself in place since the CVVT solenoid won't be hooked up to anything.

Re: P0016 code

When you replaced the timing belt did you set the CVVT preload? That code is usually due to the CVVT preload not being properly set, particularly if it post immediately when you start the engine.

Re: Okay to drive short term with broken transverse arm mount?

Welding them is a bad idea. The trailing arms are aluminum and the bushings are where the alignment is adjusted.

My guess is about 25% of them on the road have broken or badly deteriorated bushings. As long as you don't get crazy you should be fine for a short period of time.

Re: 1998 V70XC Rear Propshaft "Hanger Bearing" Replacement?

The only way I know to do it is to send it off to a place like Colorado Drive shaft. The way it is made I think the only way to do it is to cut the shaft and weld it back together. I had the same thing happen about a month ago and I just removed it and it will stay that way. It makes a heck of a rac...
