Re: AC Delete 99 S70 N/A - (Seized Compressor)

The path of least resistance in my mind is to grab a replacement compressor from a pick-n-pull. Hooking the lines back up will help to keep the crap out of them. If it was just the clutch bearing that seized up and the compressor didn't grenade internally then it is really easy to pull a good vacuum...

Re: fuel trims question

Most ECU's are programmed to trip the CEL at a 20% departure from the default.

Re: New guy with some questions, I’ve learned a lot!

As far as the interior goes it is common for them to have come from the factory with what would be considered "mix and match" parts. It is also a common thing for them to get mixed and matched later on when stuff wears out and the pick-n-pull has the right part but a different color. The colors all ...

Pull the codes from diagnostic port A-1 and post them back. It may not tell us everything but it is a good place to start,

Re: Overheating - 1997 850 GLT

The radiator is pretty much self bleeding through the overflow tank. I just fill the tank until it won't take anymore. If you fill it to the line it will need to be topped off again (less than a quart) in a day or two. If it is full and still overheating, and you have replaced the thermostat then yo...

Re: Volvo Camshaft Locking Tool Front (850 S70 V70) - CTA 2883

The sprockets aren't really different in size but the way they hook up to the camshaft is different. The CVVT sprocket more or less floats over a several degree band. You can turn the sprocket several degrees and the camshaft itself won't move. When doing the belt on a CVVT you have to go through th...

Re: Intermittent Battery/Generator Warning Light

I had a similar intermittent issue on my Platinum Edition and it took me forever to find the problem. In my case the wiring harness rubbed against the amplifier for the stereo which has really sharp cooling fins and rubbed a hole in the insulation and shorted it to chassis ground. The battery was fi...

Re: Nivomats

I used a set that didn't really match what should have been on the car and they worked fine. The car they went on was a V70XC and the junk yard donor car was a S70 AWD. If you replace them one at a time there might be some handling issues but if you replace them in pairs I doubt you could even tell ...

Re: AC compressor won't cycle Topic is solved

If you happened to have the control set to defrost the compressor will run regardless of the temperature. A quick test to see if the gap is stuck shut is to unplug the low pressure switch (pressostat) back by the firewall. That kills the power to the compressor and it should stop running unless it i...

Re: 2000 V70 high low side AC pressures after accumulator replacement

I did not read the step where a vacuum was pulled on the system. Air is a non condensable gas and it will cause very high compressor high side pressure. As I understand the high pressure switch system it has a lower high pressure limit to satisfy the ECU that the A/C is operating and has built suffi...
