850r with replaced motor. how to id if motor is a 2.3 or 2.4
any ideas? I;m looking at a 1997 850R that supposedly had the original motor swapped with a low mileage 2.3
are there external cues that are obvious or do i need to find stamped numbers etc..

16" 5 spoke wheels / Rims
any idea if these are factory or not? they were on a 1997 850T5. no markings on the front. one is bent and i need one new one. They are 16" . i like the 5 spoke but I don't want to go with an entire new set of 17's

Great success...it was wired incorrectly, both leads go on the outboard stud...not going to use that mechanic again. he swears the two big wires were on separate terminals when it came off..

The cable you have on inboard stud should not be there (brown cable). Only the braided little piece of wire that goes into motor case of starter. Your alternator is running the starter motor the way it is wired according to the picture. The battery is the red one and when you turn the key the green...

Elaborate on how you have the starter wired. The large main terminal should have both the battery and the alternator wires, together on the same large terminal. hhmmm that's what I thought but it's a new starter and solenoid. That being said with parts these days maybe it's a new starter but still bad?
