Unclamped Lower Hose, And This Fell Out...What Is It?
So I go to drain the vehicle in preparation to replace the water pump, right? I pull my lower radiator hose, and this "thingie" fell out. I'm sure it's necessary, but do I simply put it back in the plastic pipe, and if so, which way?

No PS Pump Coupled to Water Pump, 2011 XC70 T6
OK,
So now that I've determined the source of my coolant leak, after removing the air box and battery cradle, looks like a straight shot at the water pump to me. I would imaging I still have to at least loosen the AC compressor to remove the serpentine and pulleys, yes? The confusion I have is that ...

Re: Now A Major Coolant Leak? DAMMIT!
Well, didn't see much with the scope, but I decided to disassemble the air box and battery case....Annnnnnnd...
Ran my fingers under the pump and pulled back wet fingers. What are the odds of the water pump failing just as I replaced the thermostat and alternator?

Turns out I have an Autel MV400 scope that I forgot I purchased many moons ago. Gonna have a look around with the camera tomorrow.

Re: Now A Major Coolant Leak? DAMMIT!
After further research, it looks as if the leak is directly under where the water pump is located. Of course, I have no way of laying eyes on the pump/location without some sort of disassembly.

Re: Now A Major Coolant Leak? DAMMIT!
Yes, the first thought was that I indeed miss something, so I tore out the intake again and triple checked the thermostat housing along with the lower radiator hose clamp(drained via that since the petcock seems to be clogged...apparently a well known issue). Looking further at the rear of the ...

Now A Major Coolant Leak? DAMMIT!
OK...So I got the alternator issue resolved. So I figured since I replaced the alternator, I'd go ahead and replace the thermostat housing while I was at it. The thermostat was indeed broken. Buttoned everything up, refilled the coolant...and i'll be damned if there is a really bad coolant leak ...

Re: Charging Failure on 2011 XC70 T6
Hi Paul,
Weird...I didn't get notification that you replied...Anyway, yeah the alternator was spinning and the voltage was bouncing between 11 and 14.5 VDC so I went ahead and bought an AC Delco remanufactured alternator. Put it in today...and as luck would have it, the control wire connector clip ...
