I used oven cleaner (don't let it soak overnight because most "eat" aluminium ) + pressure washer and a toilet brush is what I used on mine.
It didn't get rid of everything but it was clean enough and cheap :)

Re: 1996 854 NA Vacuum line at #1 cylinder

yep, I used a punch as well and some CRC penetrating oil (PB blaster is probably equally good, we don't have that in Europe AFAIK), it ...

Re: 98 s70 touch up paint

I bought the little Motip bottle. But I suppose clear coat is clear coat since it's, well ... clear :P

Re: 98 s70 touch up paint

Looks like the same colour as mine which would be Ruby Red. The Volvo colour code is 414 . You can confirm this by looking under the hood at the ID plate of your car. It's on the right side.

Re: Horn relocation

Kind of off-topic but might be interesting nonetheless:
Amen. I don't think the volume of air passing through is increasing, so much as the air doesn't become turbulent when passing by.
Actually, turbulent airflow across a heat exchanger is more efficient in removing heat than smooth flow.

Some notes for others:
- Possibly a European thing: Stabilizer link nut was 15 mm and I had to use a 16 mm wrench behind the mount. (16 mm of ...
