I lost compression in #2 cylinder and so I took a bore scope and looked inside. It almost looks like the walls have rust on them.

What do you think it is? I am concerned/perplexed

thanks for the offer of the head; I appreciate it, I will have to wait until I know more. I have a friend that has access to a video probe, so Monday we will look into the cylinder and see if there is any damage there. Then I can decide what to do.

My turbo xc v70 sucked a valve, now no compression of course.

should I buy a used engine, swap out the head, etc. I am a bit disgusted with it. any ideas.

There is a "box" in the way that leaves only a couple of inches at best between the box and the bolt. So I haven't drilled anything yet, because there is no room for the drill. I have not heard of an easy out socket before....Does it go on the outside of the rounded bolt?

The oil drain plug has been rounded and I can't get it off. So I am thinking of welding a piece of metal to it so I can loosen the bolt. My question is, Can I weld without hurting the electronics of the engine? Or am I going to have to take the oil pan off.
