Look for discussion on this over at sweedspeed.com. There is a $7 (!!!) kit of OEM shims that can restore function. If that's too pricey, a number of folks have restored function by shimming the clutch with bread wrapper clips.

Apparently the root fault, aside from the cheap hose, is a valve inside the oil filter housing that fails and needs to be replaced with an upgraded part.

I assume that the second fob has already been lost. If not, do both fobs get the same report? It could be a fault in the ignition switch rather than the fob.
