Re: 2000 S70 Base battery drain?
Been using a different key. Pretty sure it's the ring that's bad. It doesn't stay locked going below the "0" and you can pull out the key but the orange and green light of the temperature controls stay on (which will eventually drain the battery), until you fiddle with the key a few times ...

Re: 2000 S70 Base battery drain?
Do you have more than one key for the car? I had to get a replacement key for my 2000 R (as a bypass for the remote start) and planned to use one of the work originals as the sacrificial key. However, when the new key arrived, I took it to Volvo to code, but when I went to use the key it would just...

You're talking about the Idle Control Valve. Photo from FCP below. Other than standard cleaning I'm not certain how it comes apart. Eric Found a link for the specialty tool https://www.amazon.com/Silverhill-Point-Tamper-Proof-Piece/dp/B002P4YCGM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450071660&sr=8-1&...

Re: 2000 S70 Base battery drain?
As stated above, the key spins freely in the ignition pass the 0-1-2 settings (around the world it goes). I could try the electrical part which looks like $20 on ebay used. But I think a previous poster inferred that a faulty tumbler or mechanical seemed more likely. Probably will hold off a little ...

Re: 2000 S70 Base battery drain?
If you're spending money on a new ignition lock assembly, talk to the dealer about ordering it by VIN so that your existing chipped keys will still work. This will save you a real PITA with security system in the long run. And you won't have to monkey around with different keys for the ignition vs ...

2000 S70 Base battery drain?
Hello, So the volvo has had issue where the car wouldn't start because the battery was dead, bought a new battery about a year ago, but it still happens. Don't know if it's a related issue but sometimes the car would stay on after removing the key and you could spin the key in the ignition, think th...

Thanks. But then I would have to buy a Dremel. I'll see if I can find someone who has one. Otherwise where could you buy such a special tool?

Oh. I meant unscrewing it from the hose looks like it requires a 5 lobed torx, T17? But I can't find anything with a T17 sized head.deepsouth wrote:You're talking about the Idle Control Valve. Photo from FCP below. Other than standard cleaning I'm not certain how it comes apart.

Can you shed some light on what this AACV is? That's not a common abbreviation or part name around here. Idle air control valve perhaps? Perhaps I'm drawing a blank. :) If you scroll down you can see some pictures from another forum, it's a denso part. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t...
