Re: 2001 S40 won't start and flashing arrow
One thing I forgot to mention is that, while starting to start the engine, the winter mode arrow flashes and the traction light is also on.

2001 S40 won't start and flashing arrow
Hello everyone,
I've had a bad start to the new year, at least as far as cars are concerned. My 2001 S40 1.9L just died while driving today. The car has 99956 miles. While I was driving today, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and then died. Now it has been pushed to the side of the road and it ...

Re: 2001 S40 Transmission "slipping"
Markvt,
Thanks for the suggestion. Is that kickdown cable inside the transmission or is it a (DIY) servicable part?

2001 S40 Transmission "slipping"
Hello,
I'd been on here before asking about what type of trans fluid my 2001 S40 1.9T should take and was given good (and quick) advice from MadeInJapan that I needed to use the 3309 fluid. The reason I was doing the trans flush was because I had noticed some rattle-type noises coming from the ...

Re: 2001 S40 Transmission: What is the correct fluid?
I finally found the dipstick below the radiator hoses near the bottom of the engine and it turns out the fluid is low...so much for this not being a service item!
Thanks for your help, I'll get the 3309, give it a flush, and hope there is no leak.

2001 S40 Transmission: What is the correct fluid?
I've been exploring lots and lots of posts on this site about using the correct fluid in the Volvo transmissions but non specifically addressed a 2001 S40 and most posts said to check the manual. I have a discrepancy between the two manuals for my 2001 S40 with a 5 speed automatic transmission.

2001 S40 1.9L Turbo misfire query RESOLVED!
I am trying to track down the cause of a couple of misfire faults that I'm getting on my S40....I've got a little diagram as a PDF but I can't upload it so I'll do my best to explain what has happened in words.
I was getting a cylinder 1 and a cylinder 3 misfire fault from the computer. The car was ...

O2 Sensor, which is bank 1?
I have a 2001 S40 1.9L Turbo, I've just gotton the fault code for the Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 (P0130 I think). Can you tell me if bank one is the sensor before the cat? I remember reading that this car can be picky about the O2 snesors (as far as manufacturer goes)...can you make recommendations ...

I've got a 2001 S40 1.9L Turbo and I'd like to know what the cylinder designations are. Is cylinder #1 on the drivers side (left hand drive car)?
