Re: no boost in 05 xc70
I went back and took a look at everything. When I looked at the intake pipe for the throttle body it was sort of on. Gave it a little tap and it fell off. Then I remembered putting the parts back together sort of out of sequence and having to reach and curse my way to getting it on. Obviously I did ...

no boost in 05 xc70
I just did the timing belt and pcv system on my wife's 05 xc70. In doing so I cleaned the throttle body and replaced the gasket. The car started, but it had a rolling idle almost stalling out. It threw a throttle code. I started it again and it was idling fine, but now is not boosting. Just sounds ...

Re: hood 05 xc-70
Thanks to everyone. I rarely ask for help, but I think it is more about the challenge of figuring out how to do it alone. In this case, however, it just seems easier to have a second set of hands. Although with a few packing blankets and a couple of clamps......

hood 05 xc-70
Got a call from the wife telling me she 'tapped' the car in front of her, but luckily there was really no damage. Unfortunately her definition of 'really no damage' was inconsistent with reality. The rear bumper of the jeep must have rode up on the hood and put a dent in the top that twisted and ...

Re: PCV replacement on 05 xc70
Thanks for the comments. Will do it all - full PCV system and timing belt. Been through it on a 98 and learned some valuable lessons.

PCV replacement on 05 xc70
The top hose of the pcv system has become so brittle it broke where it goes under the engine cover. I'm assuming since that is so brittle it has not been serviced and is an indication of the condition of the rest of the system. I've had the car for about 1.5 years and it's time to think about the ...

Re: should I buy a 98 xc70?
I have a 98 xc and an 05 xc. I've lost 2 modules on the 05 since buying it - both easy to replace, but a pain to find and replace. The driving experiences are totally different. The 98 feels like an older car, but still has enough luxury to make it very comfortable. I feel much more connected to the ...
