Re: no boost in 05 xc70

I went back and took a look at everything. When I looked at the intake pipe for the throttle body it was sort of on. Gave it a little tap and it fell off. Then I remembered putting the parts back together sort of out of sequence and having to reach and curse my way to getting it on. Obviously I did ...

no boost in 05 xc70

I just did the timing belt and pcv system on my wife's 05 xc70. In doing so I cleaned the throttle body and replaced the gasket. The car started, but it had a rolling idle almost stalling out. It threw a throttle code. I started it again and it was idling fine, but now is not boosting. Just sounds l...

Got a call from the wife telling me she 'tapped' the car in front of her, but luckily there was really no damage. Unfortunately her definition of 'really no damage' was inconsistent with reality. The top hose of the pcv system has become so brittle it broke where it goes under the engine cover. I'm assuming since that is so brittle it has not been serviced and is an indication of the condition of the rest of the system. I have a 98 xc and an 05 xc. I've lost 2 modules on the 05 since buying it - both easy to replace, but a pain to find and replace. The driving experiences are totally different. Also - what fluid are you using? Did you spin the other parts powered by the belt? I'm assuming yes and there were no noises. I think it is similar to the 90. Turbo above and awd below. If I did a job in 5 hours that called for 3 I'd consider that a win. I usually have to double it.

I have two areas where there are leaks. The first I found when changing the boot while replacing the tie rod. It had fluid inside that seems to have been contained by the boot clamps. Oscillation damper it is. Would never have guessed that one. Thanks for letting me know. It's one of those parts that I only noticed because it's covered in oil and gunk as a result of seepage from the that turbo return line leak. Like to know what I'm cleaning off.

Yes, it is horizontally mounted unlike the oil cooler. The oil cooler lines run to the opposite side of the engine at the lower corner - right where the flap is under the passenger tire. Why not take the serpentine belt off and start the engine. If the noise is still there you know it is something under the timing belt cover. Re: 1998 V70 AWD coolant loss/overheat

I just did this repair a couple of weeks ago. I used the info listed above and willed my way through it. Access to anything in that area is very limited. I took out the filter box air hose. That got me in the general area. I wish I had looked at it before starting as I would have also replaced not o...
