Next it is time to install the new boot over the inner tie rod end. Remove the rust-preventative paper and the yellow plastic cap if you haven’t already. I applied a little silicone grease to the mating lip inside the end of the boot. Partly this was because I had studied Nlemerise’s write-up of ho...

I think hub might have been the wrong word to use. I guess that means wheel bearing in most cases? The wheel bearing on the rear is not held on by any bolts, other than the axle nut.

The bolts I mean are holding the actual wheel axle section. Part 9157713/9157714

Mine is actually a turbo. I have done this before on an NA and it worked out great. The glove got sucked in so much I thought I might lose it heh. Yeah I saw that post as well about the box. Suppose I could try that. So outside of rings and the pvc itself there is nothing else that would cause this?

That is how I fixed it. I cleaned the ports but maybe not deep enough? I didn't use a ziptie (as robert diy recommends), nor did i blow air into them.

Assuming for now that the pcv repair is fine. What else would cause it? Worn piston rings? And a compression test may help show that?

Re: doing the evaporator! Last questions

I also ordered nissen's evaporator and dryer a while back. Also picked up some orings from Volvo today - did you manage to get them yourself or are you going to reuse the old ones? Not sure when I will do this. Does not look to be entirely easy but I did pick up some ac line disconnect tool as I hea...

Re: Oil leak after clutch replacement Topic is solved

Been a few days now and the car has yet to leak. It looks like problem solved :)

Also put in new bolts for the lower engine mount. Still to find the the correct bolt for the area just above the axle... but I'll get to that another day.

Thanks all for the help! Marking the thread as solved.

Re: Oil leak after clutch replacement Topic is solved

Hey guys, got the job done today. Thanks all for the fantastic help and advice! Only thing left is to refill the fluid. In the end I had to use a crowbar to remove the seal, the screwdriver way wasn't really happening (but maybe help loosen it,) and only wanted to use the screw method as a last reso...

Re: Oil leak after clutch replacement Topic is solved

Okay I've finally gotten around to this. I'm trying to remove the old seal with pliers and it's coming out in pieces... I don't have any specific tools to remove seals. Any tips?

I actually have no idea what transmission fluid is in there now. Can I mix assuming it's appropriate fluid?

Re: Volvo 850 How to add oil to new a/c compressor

A write-up would be very helpful! On my to do list is replacing the dryer as rust has eaten right through it.

The springlock tool thingy to remove the dryer, where did you get yours? Volvo have their own version but is very expensive.

Re: Oil leak after clutch replacement Topic is solved

Thank you for the responses. I have an axle seal replacement on hand as that was supposed to be done during the clutch job but the part didn't arrive in time. I'll probably go ahead and change that and clean up oil mess and then see how that fairs.

Oil leak after clutch replacement Topic is solved

Hello. About a month ago I sent my Volvo 850 to the shop to get the clutch replaced. At request, they also changed the rear main seal and the driver side axle boot. Apart from the boot everything is Volvo original. I haven't really driven the car much since then as I'm in the middle of a PCV repair....

Lost part of the door stop

Hello. I was removing the door stop from the passenger door as it was clunking badly when being opened. I noticed that the weld in the pillar gave up and was loose and would need to be welded back on again. Thing is though I accidentally knocked it off and now it's somewhere inside the car... check ...

Re: 1995 850GLT Manual Removing Gear Shift w/out destroying..

Go to Yother DOT com , it will save you a lot of hassle, you will NOT have to cut apart your gear shifter knob, which runs between 70-90$ new I believe. You should send me a check for 50% of that amount  . It actually took a fair amount of searching on google to find it, and I'll be honest...

Hate to bump an old thread but I'm curious if you manged to remove the gear shift? I am in a similar boat myself now. So it's not possible to install a new boot without remove the gear head? Sorry for replying so late. I did manage to remove the gear shift. You cannot install a new boot without rem...
