Alright thanks. The fact that the coolant leaks out immediately as I add it makes me wonder if there is more broken then just that housing. Any idea what else would be likely to break\fail along with that part or would it being cracked as it is be enough to cause the immediate coolant leak ...

Sorry I meant how long can it sit there unused being low on coolant. With that housing being cracked the fluid leaks out as I add it. I'm going to look into donating the car but don't want it to sit there baking in the sun if it's going to make things worse.
