Re: Emissions test... P0442 p0445

I worked on volvo for over 25 years but now do it as a hobby. Here is the fix. There is a hose that is attached to the evap canister and valve that is cracked. They all do. It is about 9 inches long with a hooked end. The canister is located above the rear sub frame of the car directly in the middl...

99 T5 Cooling Fan runs when car isn't up to temp yet

Ok so I'm scratching my head on this one now. I've replaced the vast majority of everything in my coolant system at this point due to some split hoses, leaky radiator, etc. Here's everything that is new All coolant hoses (even the small ones around the turbo) Radiator Coolant temp sensor Thermostat ...

buy another factory unit maybe? The first one should have lasted the mileage the car currently has. 99 S70 T5 Trunk latch stopped working - Lock or motor?

As the title indicates, my trunk has stopped opening via the little latch or the button on the side of the driver's side door. The only way to get in right now is by putting the key into the lock. Looking at the exploded diagram of everything in that part of the trunk, I see a locking mechanism and ...

I'm assuming if I pull the relay and jump it with a wire, I can hook a pressure gauge up to the fuel rail and verify that it gets positive pressure as an indication that the fuel pump is working?

I don't believe this is an ETM fault. No ETS light while engine is running means no fault in that system. I agree with checking the MAF by disconnecting it. I don't know what it was replaced with. The dealership replaced it under that warranty thing.

Coolant is fine. I replaced the coolant reservoir and the little floating thing gets stuck :/

I can touch it with a screwdriver and it floats back up to the top of the liquid and the light goes away.

Resurrecting the wife's 99 T5

Back story: - Wife retired her old 240DL wagon, inherited her granddad's 740GL sedan, got hit and totalled. I believe Volvos are like wine, the older the better. 855 is a fantastic car, but you need to know how to fix them. If you are a poor student without mechanical skills, the 245 wagon is a beautiful piece of honest engineering. Even Volvo used to boast of these things... http://img.photobucket.com/a...

How much of these vacuum diagrams apply to the 99? We've still got our 99 T5 and I'm doing more stage zero work and replacing all the vac lines.

Edit: My google-fu is strong this morning.

Here's the diagram for the 99+ guys in case a google search led you here.

Apparently swapping the solenoid on the S70 transmission is a major headache. After a fluid change still no luck.

found a low milage replacement transmission on ebay for $400 shipped. Having it sent to my mechanic's shop. said he'd swap it out for $500.

Bumping this thread because my wife's 99 S70 T5 has the same bad solenoid "2-3 solenoid" code and will not shift into overdrive.
