Master Window Switch Question

Are master window switches supposed to be plug n play? The DS window does not work on my partner's "project" '01 V70 X/C. "New" UEM Issue with FOB/Key Pairing

Hello! I'm having an odd issue with my Upper Electronic Module. I'll give a brief history of how this happened, and why it's not working according to the Volvo dealership. So, I picked up an old '01 V70 X/C for my wife last summer. It had lots of small issues I worked through. The rear-view mirror l...

I safely pull into a gas station, shut the car off, unplugged the 3 connections on the fuse box Not odd, it is a common problem. That is not a Fuse box. It is the CEM (Central Electronic Module) with fuses. The Volvo CEMs are infamous for the CEM connections going wanky. Clean the connectors with M...

Odd electronics issue; time for a new fuse box BCM/CCM? Topic is solved

Good morning! Re: 01 V70 XC: Odd grinding/pulsing burst sound on right turns. Bonus idle question.

Update: abscate: the 14mm axle bolt wasn't loose. I pulled it and put it off, tightened to factory spec (25ft/lb, then 90deg). Also pulled the ABS sensor on the front left wheel, and the tip looks like it has some grooves rubbed into the tip. I'm thinking something got stuck in there, caused the gro...

Dumb question, but what wipers do ya'll use? I'm looking for a blade type. Went to an Autozone yesterday, and I was as stumped about the wiper types as the employees were. DS Fuel Leak

Sorry for the slew of threads lately, been chasing random symptoms, with a few new issues popping up. My V70 developed a fuel leak on the DS of the tank. Driver side...? The fuel hoses are routed on the passenger side. Only thing on the driver side are injectors and fuel rail. Maybe AWD is different? Sorry I should have been more specific. New fuel line leak is on the driver's side of the fuel tank (so, pre-pressure regulator). On the AWD, there's a...

Re: Pulling Motor/Trans, couple questions Topic is solved

When you remove the axle, the circlip does not stay in the trans, it will be on the end of the axle when you pull it out. The chisel is just used to force the axle housing apart from the trans housing, any triangular shaped wedge will do but the chisel is a perfect shape. Some people like to use a ...

Well, I ordered new rear shocks and coils (Lesfjors coils, Volvo shocks), and couldn't install them. You trouble shoot voltage like Salmon - you swim upstream. If you don't have 12V at Terminal 15, the jumper doesn't tell you anything. You have to find where that 12V is missing/stopped/grounded. Well, double-checked both fuses and voltage at the main relay, with good readings. I am also reading 12...

Transmission leak of some sort

Started noticing small drips on the ground under my 98 V70 in my parking space at work, as well as in the driveway where I park (started a month and a half ago, or so). Transmission is leaking roughly a quarter quart of trans fluid a week. I've been checking the level and topping it off every Saturd...

Perhaps the elements in the seat itself are on their way out, and conducting poorly? The fact that you're measuring power out is good, but a dip in power would likely cause the relay to switch off. Odd that it's staying on as long as it is before cutting out. If the relay goes off, and you immediate...

Blown turbo usually means oil passing through, which would burn a more white color. Maybe coolant seal in the turbo? Does the exhaust smell sweet?

Oh wow, sorry to hear about the troubles. Well good to know about pulling the flange with it. I'm assuming it's much more difficult to remove it with the flange still on? As opposed to undoing that clamp on the flange and pulling the turbo out that way.

As i understand it, upgrading to 302s will mostly just lengthen replacement intervals. They'll last a lot longer. I don't think it does much for braking power.

Brackets are discontinued on most sites. Search the part number for the 302 brackets ( 8602456 ); there are a few sites out there who are still selling them.

Are you wanting to do the upgrade for performance or visual reasons?

Re: 1993 240 squeaks

New shocks in the rear are great for ride quality, but if the coils are bad (which it sounds like they are), you'll want to replace them too. Bushings and shocks won't do a ton for ride level on old coils. The clunking and squealing is worrisome though. What's the status of the anti-sway bar, and li...

Re: "unity automotive" strut set on ebay

I'd advise just shelling out for OEM or Sachs struts. Cheap struts ride like cheap struts. I've felt cheap struts that have honestly felt worse then failing stock struts.

Nice! Super glad it's back! Your car thanks you for this new life you've given it. Hopefully no more misfire when it's raining.

Re: 1994 850 shuts off when switched to drive and gas pedal is pushed

I had nearly identical symptoms. My car would start back up after like 10 min of sitting there. Was a combination of a bad fuel pump relay + bad MAF. Haven't had the issues since.

Re: Wont Accelerate past 3500 RPM's

I hate to say it, but could the ETM cause this? Looks like you have a 99 S70, I think the first year Volvo added the ETM to the P80s. I agree with Clemens, could also be an ignition issue. I don't believe it's the transmission. My 98 V70 has the 4spd transmisison, and it doesn't have a problem kicki...

Re: 96 850 R rough idle / misfiring when wet

Thanks,so I just ordered the rotor, wires and plugs through Volvo. So the wires should be Bougicord, Rotor should be Bosch. Interestingly, the dust cap of the distributor is no longer available. Probably not a huge loss. Btw., who was the OEM manufacturer of the Volvo plugs? Nicely done. Pretty sur...

Re: shutter during acceleration

If you have an OBD reader, I'd reset the ECU once you fill with premium. Shudder could be a lot of things, especially if it's a rogue symptom with now CEL.

Does the V70 feel like it has much power, or is it pretty tame typically?

Re: New front brakes / now crazy vibrations

I'd recommend replacing the boot, if it seems like the boot itself is torn or in rough shape. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-disc-brake-caliper-repair-kit-front-c70-s70-v70-850-271583 Never heard of brakes vibrating like the way you describe immediately after an install. Likely something ver...

Re: 2000 v70 N/A radiator ftiings

Steer clear of URO transmission cooler lines. Had a oil cooler line (almost identical looking/built to tranny cooler line on turbo model) start leaking after 4 months of use. I've heard bad things about pretty much any hose they make.

I carry a used one I got from a junkyard ($5), which tested to work fine. I like to have it there because I remember how annoying it was when the old one on my car gave out.

Re: 97 960 Struggling Fuel Economy

Yeah, if I were you I'd check O2 sensor, engine temp sensor, condition of injectors, air filter, condition of catalytic converter, vacuum leaks, leaks of any kind. There are a lot of small things that can all add up to dumpy fuel economy. Any engine codes? That might narrow things down if so.

Re: 98 s70 t5 small evap leak

It seems like nine times out of ten that this happens it's the j-hose. If I were you, I'd check that first. It's usually cracked at the elbow. I've heard of people cleaning it and coating the cracks with silicone tub sealer. That's a quick option if you don't think it needs replacing. Just let the s...
