Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Timing belt, water pump, coolant bottle, accessory belt and tensioner, and a PCV service. I remember doing the timing belt on my '99 V70 in like 1.5 hrs (12 years ago) but this job was much harder. I skinned a lot of knuckles! I tried to do the PCV without removing the thermostat housing but that wa...

Re: 2001 v70xc radiator replacement
I just did this a month ago and also ziptied the whole cooling sandwich together to help with bolt alignment. Be mindful that the captive square nuts (iirc) don't fall out of the radiator. The rad I replaced was also a Nissens that was leaking from the upper hose attachment point. It had ovalized. I...

Re: P0089. Help! Virginia license plates expiring. Help!
I pulled a spare PEM from a '06 S80 in a junkyard to keep in my XC70. On both cars I'd seen it was stuck to the passenger side of the trunk storage area by the spare.

No fan means no air over the condenser when the car's not in motion means no cooling is going to happen. Plus your pressure's going to go pretty high, I'd imagine. Fix your fan first of all.

Re: What year XC70 should I get as a daily?
I found an '06 for under $2k but had to travel 7 hours round trip for it and it needed a little work. I found a few '01-'02 cars when I was looking for cheap but did not want to deal with the potential for transmission or ETM problems. 2007 cars in my area (western PA) seem to go for around $6k in c...

Re: Programming required after installing an ETM for a 2006 S60 turbo?
I was having similar issues on my '06 and opted to buy a clean, used ETA from the local wrecker for $25. Before mounting it on the car I took the plastic cover off of the side to confirm it had no oil intrusion and that the plastic gear teeth were still intact. That solved my issue.

Re: 2006 XC70 LTFT problems (ECM212C and ECM21EC)
This weekend I put 400 miles on the car without any sign of the LTFT code. I checked trims today and VIDA was reporting around 1% which seems like a significant improvement. The ECM had two pending codes for MAF flow, this time saying it was too high! The idle reading is still showing 12.5 kg/h so I...

Re: 2006 XC70 LTFT problems (ECM212C and ECM21EC)
Okay; I raided an '06 S80 2.5T for some parts today at the U-Pull. First of all; I pulled a clearly aftermarket MAF and housing off the car and put it on my XC70. The housing that was on the car was even more clogged than it had appeared when I first looked at it in the airbox, it had dead bugs and ...

Re: 2006 XC70 LTFT problems (ECM212C and ECM21EC)
This weekend I replaced the radiator as it appeared to be weeping from the driver's side end-tank and I had been experiencing coolant loss every 500-600 miles. I ordered the Volvo OEM radiator because I had read about the aftermarket ones not having the reinforced hose barbs. Earlier this week the r...
