Re: How do you use a geartronic transmission?

Shift with rpm like a manual. You can upshift or downshift at any accelerator position. Once in Redline territory the computer will just cut the rpm not upshift like in automatic mode. I use the Geartronic feature in my S80 all the time. Doesn't seem to hurt anything to maintain higher rpm via lower...

Re: The first car to drive itself may surprise you!

When I was 16 getting my driver's license I was madly in love with my uncle's 1964 Thunderbird. I looked all summer and settled for a 1964 Mercury Montclair Marauder fastback black with a red interior. On the Marauder I loved the checker flags on the front fender and the three blades on the hubcaps....

Re: The first car to drive itself may surprise you!

Looking at the commercials of US automobiles of my youth I realize why I absolutely love my S80 T6 so much. Here are some more commercials that show just how different the focus of the automotive buyer was. Smoother, quieter, bigger engines seems to have been the focus plus looking at classic cars i...

Re: Starting problem...please help.

If it's the ignition switch it will have to be replaced. Then don't add anything to the key to protect the new switch. Being so intermittent maybe you will get lucky with removing the weight from the key. Keep us informed! June

Re: Starting problem...please help.

The click? You mean the starter engages but the engine won't start, or turn the key and nothing happens? If nothing happens when you turn the key you probably have a bunch of keys hanging from your Volvo key and have ruined the ignition switch. Volvo ignition switches don't like keys and junk swingi...

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)

I liked the 960 and S90 Executives. They were a plusher car with a slightly longer body. Drove beautifully and quiet too. Never seen them in NA though only in Europe. $7900 with close to 500k miles? Neil. Special order only. The Executive were only inches longer. That limousine looks feet longer. T...

Re: If my AC evaporator ever fails.... Topic is solved

If my evaporator fails: My mechanic will obviously linch me!!!!!! (I'm sure he daydreams about it already) After watching that video that must be one of the worst jobs on the whole car! How many hours does that job take? I wonder how many on here have attempted it? June

Re: WANTED, DESPERATELY: Radio/Equalizer for an '89 780 Bertone

Go online and have your original repaired. In Tampa when I worked at the Buick dealership we sent radios and clusters to a place called Technicar. Here in Jacksonville its Auto Radio Service Inc. of Florida. Check with your dealership parts and find out where locally they send radios out for repair....
