Re: P2 seats' leather ages/lasts much better than P80 Volvos

It definitely comes down to care. There were 2 P2 wagons in the yard this weekend and both drivers seats were completely roached as were the steering wheels. I don't know if black interior folks take better care of their interiors or if tan just sucks, but tan seems to be the regular loser when it c...

Re: Doing a head gasket, front cam seals, timing belt etc.

I picked up my '99 thinking it was a head gasket due to nearly identical circumstances. When I started to tear down I took the water pump out and the aftermarket pump impeller just fell out in pieces as it was plastic. Might be worth checking that before you start pulling the head off.

Cut one of those USPS boxes so that it's a clam-shell. Get a couple cans of expanding foam and some plastic sheet. Tape plastic sheet to line the top and bottom half of the box. Spray foam one half, lay more plastic sheet over the foam it, place parts on plastic sheet. Spray foam second half, put pl...

Re: Famous wagon tailgate wire question

If you didn't put any wire extension in, just use two zip ties to attach it and leave one of them open a bit to add some strain relief.

Re: Post PCV replacement problem - electrical issues

Check all your fuses first. Make sure the terminals are correct on the battery hookup (+/-) If all of that is good, the battery could just need a jump if it sat a while.

I summarized everything below. - Aisin WP. - TB Conti - Seals: Corteco only. DIY: 1998 Volvo S70 Timing Belt, WP, Cam Seals, SB Overhaul https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=53722 I'll second those brands. OEM Volvo is also acceptable if you have a hard time finding everything p...

Re: T-5 Oil Leak from Back of Engine, Smoke Rising

Yeah, I have oil burning off the downpipe after the car gets hot. Dripping down the back of the block and off the oil pan too. Cleaned it all real well with Brakleen and the return line got wet again just idling. I think it sprays a little with crankcase pressure and hits the exhaust when driving.

Mine is doing the same thing. O-Ring for the turbo oil drain/return pipe is leaking on mine. Not looking forward to it since I'm AWD.

Check ebay for "thin OBD2 cable" You can get a low profile, right-angle, ribbon style extension cable that might get you what you want.

Re: Marvel mystery oil or seafoam

Seafoam will do a better job of breaking up carbon in my experience. I'd seafom all the cylinders, verify they all drained overnight, and then change the oil. Put just a little oil in each cylinder before you start it up since you'll have ZERO lubrication for the first couple revolutions otherwise.
